I am working on a project that is behind schedule. The project requires alot of concentration as I am researching tools I have never used before. I had hoped to make a lot of progress today.

So why am I posting here instead of working? Well, it seems someone decided that today would be a good day to hang a big new sign on our building, 2 floors above my office window. All morning there have been men hammering in supports for the sign. BANG. WHAM. THUD. They are working in a cherry picket, which is sitting directly outside my window and which uses noisey gas powered generator. In short its L O U D in my office right now. To top it off, I was just informed they will be here all day.

I know its not their fault, these guys are just doing their job, but I am not having warm fuzzy thought about them right now. No, my thoughts involve such pleasant concepts as throwing them off the roof so I can get some quiet .

BTW, for those who didn't recognize it, the title of this thread is a reference to a Dilbert cartoon. I have not suddenly developed a homicidal streak (lol).

Oh well, back to attempting to work.

Sorry, Don. Seems that this kind of stuff happens around here all the time, too.

Can you get a pair of those squishy foam earplugs?

ouchhh arent we construction workers so inconsiderate:) why couldnt they have installed the sign during off shift or time, like on saturday>? we always try and do any of our commercial stuff on weekends or evenings.

I feel your pain! I work at a college and the office staff & administrators have to work thru the breaks. All construction is done during the breaks between semesters when the students and instructors are gone. So, adding insult to injury, I not only have to work while everyone else is on vacation, but I get to have construction going on all around me. Sometimes we can't even hear to talk on the phones.

The good part is that I can take my vacation while all the faculty and students are here!

oh man! they are replacing windows in my apartment complex and the pounding has been driving me  . i hope it gets better for you soon, hound!
