When I was in 5th grade I tried out for the part of Sacagawea and signed up for a native american and he didn't pick me and I have never been in a part for a play and he said he would pick someone who hasen't been in a play for a while and so I got stuck in the chorus like every other year in elementry school. Has anyone else been in a situation like that before?:sad1:

not yet
we haven't started the play in school yet but i'm only a freshman so that will probably happen to me this year :thumbsup2

Unfortunetly that is what usually happens when you first go out for musicals and your first experience is going to be in the chorus or a bit part. But my advice to you is no matter what role you get give it your all and I guarentee you your director will see that you are putting in your all and in the future that will matter.

Good if you need any help just ask with audition stuff. I have been doing this since the age of 6 since I played Molly in Annie in a Community Theatre production. Now I am 17. Wow that was a long time ago.

Are you still into the theatre stuff?

Oh yeah, I am auditioning for NYU Performing Arts School in January. My grades and Application was already accepted so now I have to go through an audition that includes two dances, two types of singing numbers, and two types of readings. If that goes well I will be accepted to the School of my dreams(NYU Tisch School Of Performaning Arts). That is the school that Idina Menzel(Elphaba from Wicked and Maureen from Rent graduated from).

Out of curiosity, what other schools are you applying to? I am a junior and am trying to gather a list of schools to visit. So far I have...
U Hart
Boco
CMU
CCM
U Mich
UNH (as a safety school?)
NYU
Penn State
Wagner (Heard their theatre program isnt that great...any idea?)
University of the Arts (I toured there this summer, I assume I will use it as a safety school as it didn't seem to hard to get into...but I am not sure about the MT program itself. It seemed laid back Sophomore and Senior years)

Ugh it was HARD narrowing down to just this many.

I was also thinking of UCLA, but hear it is difficult to get into if you are from the East Coast. (But with MT I don't think it would matter where I live...it should be mainly about talent)

Oh and OP: My first show EVER I was 4. I had a special "role" written in for me. It was an extra character in the ensemble...I had no lines..no dancing...and no singing. I just stood there. But now I am working with very reputable theatre companies and was asked to intern next summer at a regional theatre in the area. You will get better roles! (But I have always had the most fun being in the ensehble, there is SO much energy, I love it)

Wagner isn't a school I chose to apply to, but I did apply to the University of the Arts and it is down the list on my preference of schools though.

NYU is my top choice of course and my grades have been accepted and my application has been granted. I just need to pass the grueling audition process in January.

The other schools that I have applied to are:

Adelphi in NY
American in Washington D.C.
Campbell University in N.C. which is probably my last choice
Ithaca College in N.Y. State which was pretty nice
N.C. School Of the Arts in Winston-Salem N.C. is it O.K.
University Of The Arts in Philly not my top choice , but would accept if I had to.

NYU is what I would die for.
