Music or movies?

My sister and I and our adult kids are contemplating a trip at the end of May.
We are working with a fairly tight budget and are thinking of staying at either ASMu or ASM.

I’ve never stayed at any of the AS resorts and am wondering what you all think are the benefits of staying at one or the other.

We’d get 2 rooms for 6 adults. No meal plan.
Probably stay 4 nights and get 3 day tickets (not hoppers).

Please give me your thoughts and opinions.

I like Movies better just for the fact I think it has characters from Disney movies as the grounds theming. Music has instruments as the theming. So a little bit more of the Disney vibe at Movies.

Thanks!
Are there any other differences?
Like buses, resort size/layout or food or anything?
We most likely won’t be spending time at the pool on such a short trip.

I have stayed at both several times. For me, they are pretty much comparable of each other despite the theming. I am sure there are others here who are experts of the two resorts that may know the little differences. But to me, really the theming was the big difference.
Here is a good thread to read:

Thanks again!
I swear I looked to see if there were any threads like this and didn’t find any- Idk know why I didn’t catch that.
Sounds like movies might be the way to go 🙂.

We prefer Music. We recently stayed at both and I felt Movies seemed more crowded. We would walk to Movies to use their pool instead of Movies main pool. We really enjoy both but I think Music would be our first choice when booking. They are pretty much similar, rooms the same and food court basically the same.

If they are the same prices, go with theme that appeals more. Otherwise, I highly recommend picking the cheapest AllStar when you go to book. The resorts and rooms are the same. The layout of the resorts is a tad different, but all of them have rooms that will be a hike. Lots of times Movies is like 20 dollars higher. I can buy a meal for the price, so I never book there unless it’s the same price.

I stayed at Music, and since DS is a professional musician, I expected to like it more. However, I didn't. It was definitely the layout. The layout reminded me of a bowling alley, and I had to walk right by the pool to get to the bus stop or back to my room. However, I walked over to Movies to eat in their food court a couple times, and also just to look around, and liked it a lot more. I also stayed at All Star Sports, which is laid out like Movies, and it was more comfortable, not the bowling alley feel.

I was planning a trip last summer and asked the boards the same question, have heard absolute nightmare stories about the layout of All-Star Music, with the furthest buildings being a pretty long walk from the main building/transportation. If you look at the layout of the two resorts, you can tell that the furthest Standard building in All-Star Movies is still much closer to the main building than a majority of the Standard buildings at All-Star Music.

If you're not opposed to spending a little bit of extra $$ for a Preferred room, I don't think you can necessarily go wrong with either, but if you're making it your goal to make this the cheapest vacation possible, a standard room at Movies will be a much better choice than a standard room at Music.

Music always our first choice, actually like it better than Pop (other than their the gondola to MGM). Enjoy AoA but, we land in Little Mermaid rooms and they are a haul to the gondola

if we land at Movies, I request the ducks buildings to be able to walk to Music as their bus stop is close.

by a hair, think they have the overall better food court and love the main pool. We request Jazz buildings, not too far back, parking is easy and it’s relatively quiet unless a cheergroup practicing in the grassy areas lol

We’ve never stayed at music but liked movies. I personally like the theming more. And if you request ducks section it is essentially preferred for the music food court/bus stop. You get the best of both worlds that way. You can easily walk to music if you end up liking that more.

MOVIES or Sports.

Unless I were booking a Family Suite, which puts me at the front of the resort, Music is a never again.
