I'm sad about it but it doesn't surprise me.
It got a lot of mix reviews. Basically people that did not read the description of the show "45 minute, full 50 piece orchestra" thought it would be shorter and a sing along so they would leave mid show.
I was glad that Disney was trying to cater to other tastes, it wasn't well received.
I bet if they had done the same thing but with Star Wars music it would've been more popular

Having the characters there I think threw people off. Frankly, I thought it was stuck in the middle and tried to cater to too many people. For me, I would have liked to see just the orchestra and the corresponding film clips on the screen. It was cool how the music set the mood of the picture without any spoken words. The characters coming out, making comments and corresponding with the conductor was trying to cater to those who wanted to see characters. I thought it dragged the show out and did not really fit.

100% agree with you.

DH and I watched the Disney Park live preview from home. Then we watched our favorite movie, Up before flying to Florida on Sunday. We loved seeing the show in person.

When most of the rides at WDW are 5 minutes or less, you are asking a lot of people to sit for a show this long. That said, I enjoyed the show and the break it offers to the evening.

We were in HS a several times the last two weeks of June. They had CMs with Pixar Live signs and stopping people walking to TOT and RnR and trying to direct them into the show, we were always heading to FPs. We never really had time to do it, but I remember thinking it just seemed so odd to me that they were really trying to push the show; something I haven't experienced in WDW before.

I really enjoyed the show, but I did think it was long for a theme park show. They could have cut it by fifteen minutes and left out some of the lesser known music (though I enjoyed the entire show and appreciated being able to sit in a cool, covered area for a nice evening break). It was also very classy and unusual for a theme park show. I imagine it is expensive to put on with all of those skilled musicians.

I really liked seeing the characters on stage. I was there on July 4th and it was a full show and I didn't see anyone leave early. I am sure they do leave sometimes, but the people there on the 4th seemed to like it.

My initial impression when I first heard about the show was that it was added last minute to bring people over to HS because so many were skipping HS altogether. It obviously didn't prove to be the draw they had hoped, since HS was so uncrowded on the 4th. I was able to get my initial 3 fastpasses at Epcot, then I got six more at HS. There were fastpasses available for everything- I even got one for this show about twenty minutes before the show began.
