Music Man

Jim Hill has a nice article about the upcoming Wonderful World of Disney version of The Music Man (2/16/03 on ABC). The guys producing it are the same team that re-worked Cinderella (w/Whitney Houston & Brandy), Annie (w/Kathy Bates) and the theatrical release of Chicago that's currently playing. This inspires me to hope that this will be a good production.

I love this musical! I'll be in Disney when it airs and know I won't be able to watch it. Maybe I can get someone to tape it for me.

I love the Music Man, too! Matthew Broderick will make a very cute Professor Harold Hill.

Music Man has already been done and wonderfully done at that.
This new one might be different, but little chance it could be any better.

Yes it has. Robert Preston will always be the classic Music Man...

On the other hand, one of the joys of live theatre is the ability to see different people in the roles you love. Now, I grant this isn't live theatre, but I still think that since Matthew Broderick is a wonderful actor and I love the Music Man, that I can safely look forward to this production as well as the classic version...

Didja hear Craig Bierko in the latest revival? At all? Preston came back to the Broadway stage!!!!!

I have little doubt that Matthew Broderick will do a great job. I'm doubtful with Kristin Chenoweth as Marion. That voice....ugh....too screechy for me!

And I have to say that if Paul Bogaev has anything to do with the music, these new arrangements will be wonderful! He's the one who worked all the orchestrations and conducting for Cinderella and Annie. He also did Aida. He's amazing!!!!
