Hi everyone I am hoping some one out there can help me - I have been training on a treadmil for the upcomming Princess 1/2 - and as such can walk @ 4.2 for 12 miles - but am worried  that with out the treadmill I will not know/keep the pace...I had read about an app. for smart phones that you could plug that 4.2 pace in and it would give you a song list of different songs that would help you keep that speed with the temp/beat of the music...has anyone else heard of this? Used it? Can give me some more info on it? Please help - I am desparate!! Thanks....

This isn't the app you're talking about, but there are other apps out there that can tell you your pace. Personally, I use the Nike+ app and that uses your phones GPS to calculate distance and pace. I've found it to be fairly accurate. I used it at the Disneyland 1/2 and it was just about the same as the mile markers Disney placed.

Also, if you're worried about getting swept, I have heard that the sweepers have balloons or something like that. Either way, they are obvious and so you'll know if you're close to them (and thus in trouble).

Thanks Melaniemiller! That is a great site and I am going to download some songs that will hopefully keep me on the pace! I really appreciated your kindness! Have a great day!!

I use a podcast on itunes called Motiontraxx...it may not be the type of music you choose to listen too usually but they have really strong beats and it really helps to pace you as you just seem to lose yourself in it and before you know it your done. I'd think you probably want tracks around the 145-150bpm mark but there's lots to choose from

I forgot to tell you about Spotify too you pay a subscription fee and you can listen to pretty much any song you can think of so using that website above that melaniemiller2002 suggested you can make a playlist of songs without having to buy each song. They also have Biggest Loser soundtracks and other playlists that people have made for their own workouts that you can subscribe too. You can join for free to try it out but in order to listen to it on an iphone (or other devices) you need to have the premium service, it's not that expensive considering the access to music you have.
