My family hasn't been to 'Ohana since last May and since then there have been one or two cutbacks in what I like to call the "atmosphere" area such as the lounge singer being let go and I was just wondering if there were still certains like music(even piped in will do) and games for the children while dining at 'Ohana? I just think the music adds to the whole atmosphere of it being a tropical setting and all.

Last May my girls enjoyed doing the hula, having coconut races and recieving leis. Can we expect the same things this time around or have they been cut out completely due to recent cutbacks?

We were just there and they did the coconut race, the lady came around and sang with the kids, we got our leis. We enjoyed Ohana's and the food was delicious!

Thank you so much for responding. My sister and nephew will be joining us this trip as well and it's there first time at 'Ohana for dinner and I wanted them to experience it the way we have in the past. Now I'm even more excited, as if that's even possible.

What's so funny - to me, anyway - about the entertainment at 'Ohana is that it is pretty doggone cheesy. Under most circumstances, that would be a liability, but for some reason it makes the experience just that much more fun. It almost works as a parody of itself. I don't know if that's intentional, but it sure tickles me. We're looking forward to another fun evening come May 17.

We were there in October with our two kiddies. They did the coconut races, and the lei's. They also danced, and the little girls were told to go get someone they love to dance with and my daughter picked her dad. Great pictures and a fun time. My kids asked to do it again this year.:lovestruc

So, do they not have the hula hoops anymore? My daughter LOVES doing the hula hoop and was hoping they still have it, but it doesn't seem that anyone has seen it at 'Ohana lately.

Does anyone know? Thanks!

We were there in March. They had a man playing a ukelele and the coconut races, and the man gave out some leis to people who did the dancing or had a special occaision. We just asked for them at the desk since we didn't get any. No hula hoops that I saw.
I loved the food, especially the salad, potstickers, shrimp and dessert!

Thanks so much for the info! My daughter will be disappointed that the hula hoop contest is gone, but we'll still enjoy it - that is, if we can get in! I've been trying for weeks to get a reservation but no luck and will have to try a walk-up.
