music editing?

Wondering if someone could help me...need to edit a song down from its original length to 2 min for my daughter for school. So, I downloaded the song from itunes, and I tried editing it in a windows program, but when I saved it to a cd ( I used a cd-rw) it would only play on my computer and not on a cd player. Anyone have some advice on how to get a shortened version of a song onto a cd? Thanks!

Try a CD-R. Not all CD players can play RW CD's.

On iTunes, right click on the song, select Get Info then go into the Options tab. There is an area where you can alter the start and stop times. Hope that helps.

What type of file is it? Audio? mp3?

A CD player may not be able to read an mp3.
