We are at the fort..Last night we heard music at 2 o'clock in the morning. We were told that fri and sat. night there was going to be music all night long for a special grad night...is this true? both nights ? all night? Then during the day we are hearing beeping and trucks from the paving goung on!... What is going on?? no quiet time?

Yep, the Magic Kingdom has several events that run into the wee hours of the morning, especially through spring and summer. Extra Magic Hours can run till 3am if the park is open till midnight. The Pirates & Princess Party can be pretty late, and yes Grad Nights run till 4 or 5 in morning.

Sorry about the paving, but the Fort is getting some long awaited improvements!!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear this is happening...I hope you are able to get some quiet time and enjoy your vacation soon.

Where are they paving at the Fort?

Only 1 day till we leave for WDW. I am so excited I can't stand it!!
:cool1:

Them darn otters and peacocks must be at it again !

Mostly at the intersection where the Outpost bus stop is. Over the years between the buses doing a U'ey there and potholes forming it finally needed to be repaved. I doubt you can hear too much from the camping loops though.

Supposedly grad nights are being moved next year to the Studios. That will be a bit of a relief to FW campers.

Hey Donnie - get that cart off the grass before mean gene sees it.

What are you on? That must be some LOUD :scared1: music if you can hear it all the way at the Fort!!!

I have heard the MK train whistle, so I know sound can carry- but never music!

Mid-April thru (IIRC) Mid-June the weekends at MK are booked up with High School seniors from all over Florida celebrating graduation. The exception is Memorial Day Weekend. These events have been going on since at least the 80's. They begin at 8pm and end at 2am; featuring popular bands, special fireworks, etc. You can easily hear the music at FtW across Bay Lake. It's a hoot to watch all these kids disembark from the busses at the TTC. Up until I think it was two years ago, these kids had to be DRESSED, like they were going to prom or something. Girls in heels & dresses, guys in dress shirts/slacks & nice shoes. It was something to see. Now, I think they are allowed to dress casually. (Which is a good thing IMHO!) If you are in 100 thru 500 loops (and 700), you will hear the music. Grab your favorite beverage, sit back, relax & enjoy!!popcorn::

Is there any more info on this? I had heard that they would be moving the Christian music celebration to the Studios, but I hadn't heard anything about them moving Grad Night to the Studios. Would make sense though, it seems they're starting to move all of these "events" to the studios.

Here is the info for Grad Nights in 2009: http://disneyyouthgroups.disney.go.com/wdyp/detail/detailPage?page=GN2009InfoDetailPage

DD graduates from HS next year. I have never been to a Grad Night- I keep threatening to be a chaperone- too bad I won't get a chance to do so at the MK.

Well there ya go, so it definitely looks like Disney is going to stop using the Magic Kingdom for special events such as these. I think it's a good idea though, because the amount of people that are upset at leaving the Studios early won't be nearly the amount that are upset at having to leave the Kingdom early.

Plus I think the Studios is a more open layout, so it probably will accomodate these events easier.

P.S. Although I'll always be able to say my Grad Night was at the Kingdom.....nah na na nah nah ;)

I drive a school bus and the one high school that I drive for are leaving for grad nite today...

I would think the Studios offers more appropriate attractions for this age group.

Yea, we were talking about this at lunch with my co-workers, there is more stuff for teenagers to do at the Studios, in the end I think it works out great for everyone.

I don't know.

I would hate to see the lines for Rock and Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror during these events! At least at the MK, there are the mountains, and lots of other things that might appeal to teenagers (HM, Pirates, etc.), What else is there at Hollywood Studios? I think there will be better venues for the musical performers, and they will probably beef that up.

Well, it's not my problem.

Oh I agree, the lines are going to be MUCH worse at the Studios compared to the Magic Kingdom, simply because there isn't nearly as many rides to go on (minus the thrill rideS).

The thrill rides are more "extreme" at the Studios, so they're more likely to draw the teenagers in. I shouldn't have said there is more stuff to do, I was wrong on that, I should have said that the rides are more geared toward the teenager extreme kind of rides.

I do agree that there will be more venus for music at the Studios as compared to the Magic Kingdom, one of the main problems that the Magic Kindom has always had with these shows is trying to fit the musicians in.

I went in '88 for my grad night (yes, it is my 20th reunion and i feel oooold) and they were very strict on what you could and could not wear. Several people in our group were sent home because of dress. Anyway, I have heard the music before when staying at the Fort, but turning on our AC drowns out the little noise that can be heard. I don't know if you have that option, but if you do, run the fan.;)
