CAST
Anna (26 and a new mummy lol)
Chris (29)
Morgan (8 weeks old)
Dad Tony (61)
Mum Pam (61)
I must start this by admitting that the nearer it got to us going to Florida the more worried I became about what effect the trip would have on Morgan, to the point I considered postponing the trip. But luckily all went well.
We were due to fly Christmas eve so we stayed at the Radisson SAS Manchester airport the night before. Its a lovely hotel and I would definatly stay there again. The cot they provided for Morgan was brand new. We had a lovely runway view room which Chris really liked, I didnt look out of the window though as we were quite a few floors up and I arnt keen on heights.
We did the night before check in with BMI, this went without a hitch and it was great to know that the cases were taken care of and the seats booked. We got row 20 which is where theres a bulk head seperating premium from economy (we were in economy). So we had the sky cot which Morgan loved!
The plane ride to Chicago was average as always, we had plent of room and Morgan was very good. Food wasnt cracking but hey they cant please everyone can they. The air hostess was very nice about Morgan and was always checking we were ok.
Chris got through customs with no problem this year (remember how many times he has been taken to that little room). First time through customs together. Two bags had had the wheels ripped off but there wasnt much we could do about it, they were not expensive as I have learned not to use anything worth anything on an airline. Chicago airport was big, just like I remembered really and very cold.
The plane from Chicago was a different story, there were about sixty extra travellers at the gate on stanby causing hassle with the ground staff about the plane being full already and them not being able to get on. I did feel for them. Everyone that transferred from our flight to that one were split up all over the plane. The plane was boiling! and packed as it was Christmas eve. They didnt give me a lap belt for Morgan to attatch to mine and when I asked they said they didnt provide them (so it was lucky I had invested in a baby B'AIR strap). It was a short uneventfull flight.
Not impressed with Alamo at MCO, qued for an hour to get the car even though there were only three familys in front of me!. Got to the desk, they tried to up sell the car, even though we have booked a 7 seater suv! told them nope. Got to the car place and it was madness! people kicking off everywhere, groups sat on the floor waiting for cars. Got told the seven seaters were all out and that if we wanted one we would have to wait there for the night!! yeah right with an 8 week old who by then was tired and needed feeding. They tried to offer us two cars instead of the one 7 seater, I pointed out that wasnt any good as I wasnt driving and why would we need two? ended up being given a lincoln with the promise an suv would be delivered the day after xmas, well that never showed, and I have complained to usrentacar. The lincoln only fit the pram in the boot no cases!.
Will quite honestly never use Alamo again, my dad used dollar through usrentacar and got the seven seater he booked delivered to the aiport door!
The villa was lovely, we had stayed there previously. The management had very kindly to do our first few days shopping for us, so the fridge was packed with food and drink. It was great to just relax for the rest of Christmas eve.
I will carry on in another post as this ones a bit long lol
