Anyone used these guys lately? My friends are making three legs- MCO to Portofino Hotel to Boardwalk back to MCO next week and are worried bout these guys being reliable. This is my friends first trip to disney and I have tried to help but they haven't taken all my advice--who does ;) . Anyway any input would be appreciated!

Just used them for the 1st time in April! Excellent service! Better than my experience with FL Tours. Very, very nice people!!! We really enjoyed talking to our driver, too.
I highly recommend that you use Murray Hill!!!

You have nothing to worry about. I used them for my trip this past winter, and my driver was very prompt, courteous, good driver, professional, everything you could want. I highly recommend Murray Hill.
 
We just got back from Disney.Were new to the disboards so we relied on recommendations from dissers for tranportation.Murray Hill was our choice.WRONG CHOICE!!!!Very rude driver.When we stopped at the grocery store we saw our driver in publix shopping for thier own groceries! Back in the vehicle the driver proceded to munch on chips and soda while driving.Not safe with two young children on board.Driver finished thier meal,brushed thier hands clean and smiled at us with a mouth full of chips.UGH!!!Next time we'll use Florida Tours or someone else.

What response did you receive when you reported your experience to Murray Hill after your trip? I'd be very surprised if they didn't react positively to your problems. My issue was very small, yet they apologized and offered me a discount if I use them in the future. Your issue seems to be more serious, so I would think MH would be concerned.
As for the driver shopping...I don't see this as anything to get upset about. Maybe he had a lot of trips to the airport that day and didn't have time to eat, so he picked up something when he had the chance. As for eating at the wheel, that would be very wrong, and I would have spoken up immediately. I then would have called MH as soon as I checked in and got to the room.

So, what did Murray Hill do when you contacted them?

You mentioned that you got recommendations from the DIS boards before your trip. Your profile shows that you just joined today.

Also, if you searched the DIS as a newcomer, I'm surprised that you didn't use FL Tours, since their name appears all over the boards.

One has to wonder if your post is fact or fiction..."smiling with chips in his mouth" seems a bit much. I don't suppose you are connected in any way to the transportation business?

Yes i just joined today,but i have been reading about all the members recommendations over the past few weeks.I was not aware that you had to be a member to read this board or to use someones recommendation.One has to wonder if YOU are connected to murray hill since you are very defensive about my imput that texasprincess asked for !!! hmmmmmmmmm.....,.

Murray Hill provided transportation for me and my dd when we stayed at the CR April 1 - 8 during our spring break. As my smilies show, I am a teacher.

What response did you receive when you contacted Murray Hill about your unfortunate experience?

we stayed at the pop ..toney was the driver he has a sign with our name on it.out dd luv that
he gave us a paper with the lay out of the store,made shoping fast and easy for me. he gave hints about disney that i had read on the forms here but had forgot about. and a lot of other fun tips and tricks..

the pick up drive was right on time..i forgot his name (sorry for that)
he was very helpful to us,and gave us some airport tip

would i use them again? YES
would i use the disney bus ? no way
we save a lot of money with just a stop at the store. as of now the money we saved paid for its self. water a disney $2.oo bottle vs publix case for $10.oo. pop tarts 3.00 at the pop $3.oo box at publix.

and the good news after we do some check book work...fingers crossed were are going back in dec.

and for snow_flake_ball may be life is to hard for you..bet you drive down the road with cell phone in your ear and a pop in the other.
 
I used them this past january - trip was fine. Only problem I had was the driver arguing with me over my wanting to use my credit card to pay for the trip when I was told I could. He then proceeded to take FOREVER to get the information ready for me to pay when I refused to change my mind.
 
We used them In Oct. Our driver was okay,technically he did his job but was not overly welcoming by any means. I had mentioned it was our son's bday when I made the res and during the drive, the driver asked whose bday it was, and when my son said it was his, the driver said"happy bday", in the most unexcited tone I've ever heard, he made no effort to make conversation with us. As I said beffore, technically he did his job so there wasn't much I could really do. Also, kind of weird but they knew the ages of my kids and the had Tom and Jerry playing. My kids had no clue who they were obviously. I was expecting for them to have a disney movie playing to help get the kids(and me excited)! Overall, it was okay but I think I'd try someone else next time or recoomend to have a more enthusiaitic driver. It was our first time to Florida and I was hoping for more of a welcome.

Whether positive or negative should not be a reason to respond to other board members with such harshness. I did not enjoy my services with Murray Hill and simply let Texasprincess aware of my experience. Why you took offense by our experience with Murray Hill should make others wonder what YOUR discount was for silence on these boards in reference to your minor problem with them. We chose not to accept to be silent. We will use another company!!
 
Thank you to everyone for your responses. I value ALL the info on these boards and find it very interesting in all the forums how everyone's experiences are so different! I cross my fingers my friends have a positive one. We always rent a car and by the sounds of this thread--I am glad we do!

I reviewed my last post and saw nothing harsh in it. I'm wondering if you're going to answer my question, though. I have asked twice. What response did you receive when you informed Murray Hill of your experience?
I ask this of anyone here who had a negative one. My reason for asking is that they were very nice when I emailed them and responded with an apology. To me, this meant everything. The driver is only one employee - it is the response of the owners that matters most to me. I'm sure if they knew of your experience, snow, they would respond and deal with the matter so it never happens to anyone else.

So, what did they say???

I contacted Murray Hill about your experience. It was news to them, so I understand why you haven't answered my question.

Honestly, I'm not trying to argue with you. If you truly had the experience you described here on the boards, John at MH wants to hear about it. He is very concerned, which I knew he would be because of his response to my experience. These people work hard to make their businesses successful, so public criticism can really hurt. However, if you report a bad experience and get a positive response, than you can share that on the boards, too. This would decrease the likelihood of causing harm to a business that people count on for a living.

Please contact John at Murray Hill, or PM me with the name of your driver and I will share it with him. I am in no way connected to this company, but I do care about people who tried to make my trip the best it could be. I'd like to return the favor. :goodvibes
 
Just an FYI--we used Murray Hill in May of last year. We weren't overly impressed. They were ok, but nothing like what we have come to love and expect from our new transportation. We've used the same company 3 times now since our trip with Murray Hill and have had nothing but positive experiences with them.
I can't really put my finger on what Murray Hill did wrong, per se, but we just weren't very happy with them. I think it's because they contract out (or at least did when we were there in May of '04) and the drivers seem to varry a great deal.
I don't know that I would reccommend them, but I wouldn't change your reservation if you've already made one.
If you'd like to know who we use now, feel free to PM me. I don't want to be perceived as biased or promoting someone else when you just asked about the MH experience.
