We are considering spliting our stay between two resorts...I read in the Forum that the resorts will transport you luggage from one to the other.

For those of you out there that have tried this....did you have any problems?? Was your luggage at the second resort in time for 3 pm check-in??

Thanks for recanting your experience.

We have done exactly this the last few years and it's always worked out well.

Plan to go into a park or something that will keep you busy all day on your "transition" day.

The hotel will take your luggage to your new hotel and it will be waiting there for you when you get there.

Obviously, it's good to be extra organized - make all your luggage clearly, count how many pieces, etc

We did it for the first time in April. Everything went smooth & easy. We checked in to our new resort around 11:30, got the room view & location we had hoped for, and headed to the MK for a while. When we got back to the resort at around 3:30 our luggage was at the new resort!

I've done this several times without a problem. I usually check out of the first room early in the morning, and have bell services pick up my bags. Then, I go off to the parks, and check in sometime after 3:00 at the second resort. The bags are usually there by the time I make it to my room.

We were going to do it on our last trip but decided to just stay at the Poly the entire time. Our plan was to stay at the Poly for 2 nights and then transfer to POFQ for 3 nights. I tried for the longest time to just stay the entire time at Poly but rooms were not available. Upon arrival at the Poly I inquired about staying the entire time at the Poly and they said they had a room.

I thought switching would not be too bad but the idea of going from a deluxe to a moderate did not seem great (especially after checking in).

Advice - If you do split and your plans include a deluxe - make that the end of your stay!

We split our stay in our Nov 2002 trip. Changing resorts was no problem for us when we did it. What we did was check out of the CR early, hop over to the WL and check in. Of course our room was not ready at 10 in the a.m. but they gave us our room keys and # to call to get our room number. We avoided a long line at check-in time by doing it this way.

After we checked in at the WL, we hit the parks. We came back after 3 and yep, long line at check-in. So we just used the phone in the lobby and called to get our room #. They gave us the number, we went to the room and called bell services to bring up our bags. Our bags were there within a half an hour.

Hope this helps.

Help with tipping!!!!

We will be changing 3 times on our next trip. I have a conference in between at the YC. We are thinking Pop Century/ YC/ AKL.

Can anyone tell me at what points in this transition I should expect to tip?

I usually tip a couple bucks a bag. We usually change twice during our stays (we'll start our trip at AKL, change for a few days at an Epcot resort, then end our stay at GF). I once stayed at GF first, what a mistake!!! I missed GF after that :). If I know I have GF to look forward to, I enjoy what the other resorts have to offer while experiencing some diff. vantage points from which to go to the parks. And I do love the Boardwalk, AKL and the Wilderness Lodge as well, so its fun to take turns experiencing them.

I've never had any trouble having my bags transferred--I will say that we don't completely unpack at the resorts so that makes packing up easier every three days or so. For some reason, I've never really experienced long check-in lines like one poster previously described. In fact, I don't think I've ever waited in line to check-in behind more than two people maybe. I guess I've lucked out without realizing it before :). We usually check-in early to the new resorts because we find that we have better options for rooms when we check in earlier. princess:

I have reservations at the BWI for four nights (5/28-6/1), but I'm thinking of sticking around WDW for a few more days with my DD while the DW and DGPs fly back home for work. I was told by my boss to burn some vacation days so why not stick around Orlando and take advantage of the AP I need to buy anyway. My DD is only 2 so she's going to be free. I'd like to use my Hilton Honors points and stay at the Hilton in Downtown Disney for free, so I wonder if BWI will transport my luggage to that hotel since it's on the property? Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks.

I don't know for sure if they will transport to DD hotels. Probably not. But, have you given thought to using a cab? It would probably be about $12. Then you could get yourself and your bags there. I'm not so sure how easy it would be to get to DD hotels via WDW bus system. Or do you have your own car?

I was hoping to have the bags transferred, but it would be ok if I rented a car for a day since we were contemplating heading to Univ. Stds Islands of Adv that day. I'd probably have to drop the rental off at Disneys Car rental location since I'd pick up from the Dolphin. Do you know if there's another National/Alamo agency near Downtown Disney? I'd hate to drop off so far just to find my way back to the hotel with a 2y/o.
