I have decided that the next time we go to Florida i'd like to go at :santa: Christmas/my birthday/New Year for 3 weeks and stay at multiple hotels. Of course i'd like to go this year :cloud9: but I know thats not going to happen so it is more likely to be 2010 for my 30th :scared1: . So I thought i'd price it up for this year to give me an idea  of how much money to save but I'm not sure where is best to book that sort of holiday? Is it best to just book each part seperately? I looked on TCD as I thought of giving them ago but they seem to only do 14 day one hotel holidays. :confused3

I would say that pricing it up seperately may be a good way to start and then have a look at flydrives with doing the hotels yourself direct. To get a better deal on flights you usually need to depart no later than around the 15th December.

Claire ;)

Well if I've worked it out right i'd go on Sunday 13th or Monday 14th Dec, so that perfect, thanks.

I agree with Claire, much better booking a fly drive then your accomodation seperatley - that way you have a greater choice of where to stay and could probably save some money too.

Claire,
Its great that you have plenty of time to organise your trip.
Decide when you want to go and keep checking different websites for flights etc. Try airline-network, expedia and opodo etc..
For three weeks you're better off getting flights/hotels separately.
Get an idea of the hotels you want, and again, keep looking, sometimes you can get some good deals.. We were travelling up to South Carolina one year and we wanted the last 8 nights in LBV area, and managed to get the Courtyard by Marriott for £200.
Its really a case of keep looking, and if you see a good price... go for it!!
Good luck!
Tracy

We did 17 nights one New Year, we flew on the 28th Dec and prices weren`t too bad.
We stayed at POR for 7 nights, DCL for 4 nights, HRH for 2 nights then AKL for the last 4 nights.
The variety made it a truly memorable holiday and as we arranged it our selves the price with generous spends came in at around £6000 for me Dh and DD who was 17.
This Dec DH and me are staying for 19 nights and we`ll split that between at least 3 resorts.
Happy planning!

Thanks for all the answers so far. Where is it best to book hotels? Where can you get discount codes from? If we wanted to stay in one really nice hotel for just a couple of nights where would everyone suggest? Concierge rooms at the Contemporary sound really nice from peoples trip reports.

We book our resort rooms and DCL cruises with Dreamsunlimited - who are great as they look out and apply dicounts for you.
The best way to get dicounts will be an annual pass, though Disney have been emailing alot of people with dicount offers, so make sure you are registered with them in the DisneyWorld site and you have selected on your profile to receive special offers.

We did 18 nights in December, 10 at POR, 4 night DCL, then back to POR for 4nights. We did try and book Coronado Springs for the last 4 nights but it wasn't available. We booked our cruise via Dreams Unlimited and our accommodation with Disney direct and we had a fly drive with Virgin.

It is nice to break up your stay and certainly something I'd do again but I must admit I do hate the packing and unpacking;)

If I had my choice I would definitely stay at the GF with my second choice being BW.

We have based most of our hotel choices from either seeing them when we are out in Florida or as far as the Disney hotels go using the information here on the DIS etc

www.tripadvisor.com we find useful as you do get reviews on there, although ultimately you have to make your own mind up.
If you see somewhere on there you may like to stay try and find the actual hotel web site on the internet for a better idea of what it is like.

Thanks for everyones thoughts and ideas! I am thinking it is going to be quite expensive but maybe it'll be a honeymoon as well!

I think one of the best things about booking this kind of trip independently is that you can book the hotels you want for the nights you want, without limiting yourself to multiples of seven-night blocks of everything.

Have fun with your planning! :)
