Mods, please move if this isn't in the right place.

We are having a bit of a family reunion with my 2 BFFs this Christmas and my Goddaughters want to eat at CRT. I'm in charge of all the reservations but how do I deal with different meal plans. We will probably be either OOP or using TIW. Montana BFF is using the dining plan, and Georgia BFF will probably be using TIW.
Specifically I'm concerned with CRT because of having to use my Credit Card to secure our table. Do you need a Credit card hold when using DDP? I'm assuming they will put the entire party on my card for the hold. They are just holding still right, not charging the full amount? I can't remember what they did the last time we were there.

We've only used DDP once but that was just our family at the time. This is so complicated!

Thanks in advance for any info.

CRT and the dinner shows are all prepaid meals so either you have to pay in full with a credit card or link the resort/dining plan reservation at the time you make the CRT reservation.

For the family using the dining plan you will still have to guarantee their portion of the res with a cc because it will be charged for the full amount if they fail to cancel the res within the time limit and then not show up for the meal.

If you're paying OOP and have the TIW card, you'll definitely want to use it. The TIW discount for CRT is usually credited back to the credit card at the restaurant after you show the server the TIW card. Some people have been able to get the CM to take off the discount at the time of booking, but that's not typical. The discount is not quite 20% because only the food is discounted; not the photo package.

Because you'll be paying with a cc for some and DDP for others you'll need to call to make this res.

Thanks Kim.
I was thinking of calling this week just to talk to someone and feel out the process. I wonder if I should call Grand Gatherings since our party is so large.

Do they even still have grand gatherings?

Nevermind, just answered my own question. Looks like grand gatherings is discontinued.

Similar question:

We're going with my parents on two separate packages, each package including the DxDP (4 people in our package and 2 in my parents').

We're planning to eat all of our meals together and, to keep things simple, I was just going to make all of our ADRs using our reservation number at our 180+10 day.

None of our ADRs, other than CRT, require credit card pre-pay. So I don't anticiapte those being a problem. But how does this work with CRT if we'd like to reserve using dining plan(s) instead of pre-paying?

Will the on-line reservation system let me reserve a table for 6 at CRT using only the dining plan (for 4) associated with my reservation number (and thereby avoid credit-card pre-pay for all 6 of us) or will I need to call to reserve a table for 6 (using the dining plans assocated with both reservations)?

I would call and have both reservation numbers on hand.
I did see this on the website:
Note: Some locations require a credit card guarantee regardless of a dining plan

I would safely assume CRT is one of those places.

OK, so I called WDW dine. The guy told me to put all the reservations on the family with the Dining plan, then split the check when we get there and pay OOP for us and GA BFF.
I will call back again and reconfirm.

Now I am toying with the idea of getting the Dining plan. It would cost us roughly $284 a day for food. Just Boma and Pizzafari alone would be about $260/270. Plus getting the snack would really put us ahead of the game money wise.

Decisions decisions.
