Multiple Contracts & Transfer Question

We have multiple contracts split between two master contracts (UYs Aug & Dec). I realize that I can only transfer in/out once per year, every year. I also think I know (;) ) that I cannot transfer banked points.

With that said, if I wanted to pool my points for ease, can I transfer from my Aug UY to my Dec UY ever year? If so, here are my questions:
* Once transferred, can I still bank the transferred points? I believe the answer is yes, but wanted to confirm.
* Do the transferred points retain their original UY and banking deadline, or do they become part of the Dec contract? I'm assuming they retain their own, but I'm not sure if/how this will show up on the website. I also want to make sure if I do this, that I don't miss a banking deadline.
* Lastly, I assume that they will retain the home resort as well (my Aug UY contracts are SSR, while my Dec UY contracts are VB).

Other than my questions above, am I missing something? Thanks for any information you can provide. Just researching this as an option, and would like to know the pros/cons, as it seems it could be easier to manage overall once transferred.

As long as the year in question is the same for both contracts, (both are '09 pts.) you can transfer then FIRST , then bank them.

Transferred points retain UY and home resort. However, you are not held to the banking deadline originally associated with those points. Transferred points can be banked at any time within the year.

Yes, all transferred points retain UY and home resort.

There are times when MS will make more than one transfer into YOUR master contracts. The rule of one transfer per year per contract is enforced more when you are recieving/transferring into or from OTHER PEOPLES contracts.

So, I may just confuse myself more than help myself, huh? :lmao:

I spent a decent amount of time trying to figure out how to book this summer's vacation without transferring. I also wanted to make sure I used all "banked" points so I didn't lose anything. Gave me a headache! :headache: LOL!

Thanks for the tidbit on transferring between your own contracts. Is this a "known" rule among the MS reps, or will it depend on the rep you get? :confused3

We transfer between our two master contracts every year. When I do this, MS tells me that that is my ONE transfer in or out per year. I've never been offered the opportunity to do it more than once a UY.

So basically, everything is the same as if you kept them separate, except that you can "pool" the points at the 7 month window? Is that correct, or am I missing something?

Thanks so much! :goodvibes

That is the way it was explained to me. Once they are transferred into one contract, they can be pooled at 7 months just like if you have two different resorts, one that is the master and one that is the add on.

I read on the boards somewhere (and don't remember where it was--will try to find it) that someone said MS may or may not allow banking anytime, but rather by the UY.

That is something that I would want to verify with MS. I know when I want something from them that I prefer to have in writing, I send my request via email through the member website. This way, I have their response and can use it to support my case if I was given the wrong information. I did this when I added the Dining plan recently. I know have confirmation from them that it has been added. When I check in, if there is a problem, at least I have something that says it should be there!

My two master contracts are for the same resort. So I can pool them at 11 months. But if I want to use all the smaller contract (only 50 points), I need to combine some of those points with the points from the other contract to make a single night. You can't use points from one master and a second master for a single night.

So if you have 50 points in one and 50 in another and you need 60 points for a single night, neither contract will allow you to book the single night. So I combine the 50+50 to get 100 and can use 60 for one night.

As Charlie Brown would say..."That's it!!!!" ;)

That's exactly what I was hoping to do if I combined contracts. I was fortunate this year, as I had 150 points from VB that had to be used or they would expire. Five nights at BCV (Sun - Th) was EXACLTY 150 points! Then I used my SSR to book Saturday on one end, and Saturday on the other. I'm sure the MS rep thought I had lost my mind! :scared:

Believe it or not, I purchased two different UYs on purpose, and am glad that I have some flexibility now with points based on when we travel. I don't regret the decision, but just need a little more practice. :teacher:

Thanks so much to all of you for your responses! :flower3:
