Multiple ADR's

I read somewhere on the DISboards and I don't remember the details:confused: . I know some peoples (with good reason) are against this, but is it correct, that you can make several ADR's at the same time for the same night under the same name? I only ask this because I am not really good at deciding where I want to eat everyday, 6 months away from being there. :scared1:

Sure you can...but if you make 5 ADR's at 5 different restaurants on the same night then 4 other families are going to be awfully disappointed when they can;t get their preferred ADR.

I have heard people were prevented from making multiple reservations because they bring up your list of reservations usually by your telephone number or reservation number. However I believe you CAN get around it by using different phone numbers.

That being said, people are against it (with good reason as you mentioned) because many of the popular restaurants book up fast & if someone is holding a reservation & does not end up eating there, it prevented someone else from getting that reservation. Now people have to cancel last minute for various reasons and that's understandable, but making multiple reservations knowing you will cancel a few is really frowned upon.

A better idea would be to book the restaurants you know you absolutely want to eat at & make some last minute plans at others. There are always places you can walk up to like ESPN, Big River Grille & Rainforest Cafe to name a few. Some of the resort restaurants are usually a bit easier to get last minute reservations at, as opposed to the park restaurants. Plus there are many really wonderful counter service restaurants all throughout the World. You really do not have to plan every single day of your vacation.

As I understand it, it's tied to you by phone number, so you'd need to have five (or however many) phone numbers to give them.

We tried to book two meals five hours apart, but both during what was considered dinner time and we weren't allowed to book two dinners for one night (one was going to be a late lunch and the other, a late dinner).

I've read that some people have had their reservations cancelled when they do multiple ADR's.

:goodvibes Not to get on a discussion about right and wrong...BUT imho it is rude to do this. Not only that but unless you use 2 different phone numbers ( and My neighbor got caught anyway, don't know how) Disney can and will , and has cancelled one of your duplicates. My neighbor made dups on all her nights at disney( using home phone and cell phone)Well, they cancelled her dups, and she didn't know till she got there( didn't know which one was cancelled either).I called on 3/25 for my adrs. After I hung up I realized I switched the days around by mistake.I called back to switch thing around and the Cm went on a tirade about not letting me because I already had a ressie and duplicates are not allowed. It is hard to decide where you feel like eating 6 mos ahead of time, but all of us have had to do it.Think how you would feel if you had your heart set on a restaurant and couldn't get it because it was booked, only to find out that it was booked because someone held a bunch of ressies they didn't even know if they would use.:goodvibes

I feel your pain but there are other ways to get around that, then making 5 ADR's (which effectively locks out 4 other parties). anyway in answer to your question, disney has gotten a bit more vigilant about this, when you go to make the 2nd or 3rd adr, it will kick out the first one.

When are you going? If it is during a slower time of the year you can make an initial adr and then as you get closer to your trip call and see whats available. Are they restuarants you have to go to? If so make adr's for just those.

My family & I don't make any adr's anymore but I'm more of a free spirit traveler, We don't have any "must do" disney restuarants like most folks ( I can live without Le Cellier :rotfl: ). So when I get up in the morning I call disney dining and ask whats available? My family and I eat at least 2 TS a day. My next trip is May 1-8 and I have 1 adr made.

Then do not make your ADRs yet unless you know you want something like Le Cellier or CRT or Chef Mickeys. No one is forcing you to make up your mind about it 6 months in advance, but if you know you want a specific place, then go ahead and book. It is not cool to book multiple ADRs for the same night for the same party (split parties are a whole different ballgame). Plus, they can and will delete one of the reservations if you are caught doing it.

So, please only book one reservation a night for your party and allow that extra spot to be enjoyed by someone else.

I wouldn't make a lot of ADRs just because I couldn't decide where to eat, it's not fair to others.

They are starting to crack down on this. They have been known to cancel multiple ADR's. Plus I think it's very selfish and rude. There are many other families that would not be able to get into these restaurants because people have booked multiple reservations and then not use them.

:headache: Hopefully Disney now cancels out one of the ADR's when you double book ( whether it is on purpose or by accident) . It is extremely rude to do this. Wouldn't everyone like to book a bunch of ADR's and then pick whatever they feel like that day but how unfair is that too everyone else , especailly those who know where they want to eat on certain days and can't get the ADR's because someone else hogged them all.

This is why I think they should go back to 90 days out or even 60. Even though I am a "planner" I would be fine with it.

No, you can't do this. Disney will cancel ADR's if you have multiple ADR's at one time. They are making people cancel them while on the phone with CRO if they notice them.

I agree. Because Disney allows you to, everyone thinks they have to do it at 180 days so if you don't book at 180 days you run the risk that there is nothing left.

I too have heard that they will cancel extra ressies, presumably whatever is booked last wins becuase that must be what you actually want.

However, I just wanted to let you know that at the last minute we had to change our dinner plans for 4/20. I called last week and had many options. The park was filled up but many of the resorts had numerous time slots available. In fact the Epcot resorts had maybe 5 or 6 time slots available each and this was for a party of 8! So if 8 peopl can book three weeks out, you can too.

I just have to add that if you really want to eat in the park or at a specific restaurant then you should go ahead and do this.

And, (although I really really really hate that Disney does this) you don't have to show up exactly on time. You can be late and they will hold your ressie. Don't get me wrong. If you are running 5 or 10 minutes late because of some sort of wacky transportation issue then you shouldn't lose your ressie but when you are 30-40 minutes late and people are sitting there, ahem...me, and we are on time but you get to be seated first and we wait and wait and wait and are seated 30-40 minutes late, and when we get into the restuarant we find it almost empty, and then we have to rush to make it to Fantasmic because we paid for the Fantasmic package, that kind of sucks. So, you aren't necessarily tied to an exact minute in the day, just don't abuse it! Good luck with your selection. If you want opinions there are hundreds of disers here who will tell you where to eat. :)

Based on how impossible it has been for us to make ADR's for the restaurants we really want (like Chef Mickey's) I hope multiple ADR's are not being allowed.

I called last week to change a dinner reservation for July (dropping Boma for Artist Point, in case you were wondering) and I asked to book Artist Point before cancelling Boma (just in case we couldn't get what we wanted - I didn't want to come away with no reservation! :scared1: ). Anyway, we got through the process and the CM stopped me and said that I couldn't have a second ressie b/c I had Boma already scheduled. That was when i confirmed we wanted to drop Boma and everything worked out fine.:cheer2:

Summary - I wasn't able to make two ressies at the same time and the CM was well aware of what I had reserved prior. Sounds like they are trying to crack down.

How are they going to know whether the ADR's are multiples or a split party? I made two dinner reservations for the same night in Epcot, with myself and girlfriend eating at Le Cellier and my sister and husband eating at Teppan Edo? Should I call to make sure they don't cancel one of them? Our other ADR's that week are for four, but these obviously are for two and two. Any help with someone who may have done this before would be great. I am the planner for the group so if there is something I need to do to stop them from being cancelled, then I would like to know. Thanks

I really appreciate the feedback on this subject  and I did not intend to offend those who have been wronged by the alternative ADR style:confused: . I just see soooooooo many GREAT dining opportunities mixed with so many great park activities and a limited amount of time to accomplish it ALL. I have been cruising the DISboards since December and by the comments I have read in other areas I am very concerned about being able to get into the places we want to go and mixing it with the things we want to do. Like stated in a thread before, I wonder if it wouldn't be better to have a 90 or 60 day window for ADR's instead of the 180 + 10. I don't know I am just a rookie.:confused3

I've read that some people have had their reservations cancelled when they do multiple ADR's.

You can use two sit downs in one day & they can't cancel it. I have had a lunch ADr & a dinner ADR on same day. No problem. I wanted to use my sit downs as we were invited by friends to eat with them for some meals off site & I wasn't giving Disney any sit downs back ;)

I would be more worry about dining canceling my ADRs for my upcoming trips that I have. Last year they cancel every ADR I made for my Sept trip & when I found out I called dining and asked why and they said they saw other ADRs under my name & thought I booked twice. I told them why didn't you look at the dates? Please get them back at same time that I had which they did but some had a hard time or none left but after talking to a supervisor he told me he was sorry & got my time back for me. They need to look before canceling if it in the same month or booked for upcoming trips. I always tell them I am coming back in whatever months so please don't cancel anything call if you have a hard time. I know they are busy but they shouldn't cancel ADRS in the future. All they need to do is look at dates. Very simple.MHO:)
