Multiple ADR's on the same day

I was just wondering, does anyone book two ADR's for the same day depending on where the feel like eating that day or what park they will be visiting.

We don't make that many ADR's, so it isn't too difficult for us to decide where to go. The dining plan has made it more difficult for people to get seatings and holding ADR's for somewhere we may not go is taking away a seating from someone else. If you do decide to do this, make sure you cancel the one you don't want so someone else can have that table.

I honestly think it is not a good idea to tie up a reservation that you may not use, others could be wanting it.

There are a lot of people that do. They should not let anyone book twice.

Do you mean two seperate ADRs at two seperate restaurants, & you plan to use both? (Like , a TS for lunch and then a TS for dinner?) Or do you mean book 2 and then pick which one you want to use on that day? :confused3 We have 2 booked in one day, lunch & dinner. But I totally agree with others, if you're not gonna use it don't book it at all. :sad2:

i agree, you should not double book. it isnt fair to others that might be having a hard time getting anything. i dont think double booking should even be allowed imho

I also agree!

We had 12 TS meals booked on a 10 day trip, ended up cancelling 3 and adding 1. But none were doubling up on any meal (2 were lunch reservations).

About two months before we left, we did have doubles booked for a couple of days while we were trying to decide what we wanted to do and when. But we cancelled those at least 6 weeks before the start of the vacation.

Whatever your feelings on whether it's right or wrong, be aware that some guests have reported having all their ADR's cancelled by a CM because they had too many "doubles" booked. And please have the courtesy to call and cancel when you decide which meal you don't want, even if it's at the last minute. Most restaurants will have guests inquiring about walk-ups throughout the evening.

I was booked twice on three different days. My ADRs weren't cancelled when I call to make changes. I would suggest going by guest services and have them print out your ADRs so you can see what you have.

I'm glad I checked because one was for the Princess Dinner and I was within the 48 hour window for cancelling and having to pay $40. The CM fixed it and I didn't have to pay.

I'm not sure if you are talking about 2 ADR's for the same meal or not. If so, do a search for recent threads on this topic and you will see Disney is cracking down on this practice and making people cancel the double bookings.

It was two ADR's for the same TS meal.

What I found using the dining plan, was the inability to alter your plans for the day based on a number of factors. Weather, TS Ernesto, etc... We booked our ADR's months before our arrival. We had one dinner booked for everyday according to our plans. What I found while we were there was the inability to alter our plans for the day because we couln't get any ADR's at any other resaurants.

Someone on the Disney bus, said they made multiple ADR's for the same meal so they would have a couple of places to choose from based on there plans for the day. ( I thought rude but smart )

I was just wondering how many people have used this tactic, and if Disney would even allow you to make multiple ADR's for the same meal.

Thoughts ?

Not only rude, but selfish. Personally I don't understand why Disney allow it. However it's not hard to understand that if anyone has double bookings they are selfishly taking a booking which they have no chance of using and that someone else wants. Period.

We booked 2 for the days we knew we would actually use them :) We had San Angel Inn for lunch at Epcot and 50's PT for dinner at 6:45PM, only because we knew that's where we would be and wanted to eat, but we have never made multiple adr's for "just in case we're at that park", that doesn't seem fair to others wanting adr's. We plan which parks we will be at different days and go by that.

We also used all our adr's made :thumbsup2

You were right in your thinking. You would like to know what DIS'er's think.

From my own recent experiences and contacts with Dining, as well as recent threads, Disney is finally cracking down on those individuals who think they are "smart" and working hard to eliminate this area of "rudeness".

I think you know what is right, and I support you in doing that.

The whole idea of double booking ADRs just so you have choices based upon "what you feel like eating that day" or "what park you happen to be in" really annoys me. If you can think far enough ahead to book two ADRs for the same meal, you should be able to think far enough ahead to plan your time that day around that ADR. It does not seem that hard to me.
