I'm new to the forum so I hope I am posting in the right section... My son and I have been to WDW once before (2 yrs ago) and had a great time but it was just the two of us and it seemed at times it would have been more fun with other friends/family present. FFWD to today- a few close friends are planning their family summer vacations- WDW in June and asked if I would be interested.

I was wondering if anyone has undertaken a "multi-family" WDW trip. In my situation it's the families of 3-4 close friends- totalling around 20 or so people, ages from 6 mos to 30-something adults and everything in between.

To further complicate matters, the prevailing preference is to stay at the Nickelodeon. Is it a hassle to get to and around WDW as well as some of the other nearby attractions (Universal, Sea World, etc...) with such a large party?

Any advice? Is this a mistake?!? :confused3 I'd really like to hear from others who have done something similar. Good, bad, ugly???

Thanks in advance.

I haven't done WDW with such a big group, but have in other situations.
best way to go about it is......don't expect everyone to want to do the same things all the time. Break into smaller groups....or even go off on your own & meet up from time to time. Maybe for meals, etc

We did a cruise two years ago with 9 kids and 10 adults. We had a blast. BUT, we went with the idea that we weren't attached at the hip! All could do the same thing, or go their own way and no one's feelings would be hurt. This worked out great as some activities were done all together, and some off with smaller groups. On the cruise we all met up for dinner every night and shared our day.

Now, DH's family is a different story. They feel they all need to be together the entire time. We've done this ONCE and only ONCE! Never again! Too much time is wasted trying to come up with an activity that everyone is happy with. (or begrudgingly agrees to.)

Discuss everything up front so there are no hurt feelings.

Enjoy!

First off I would stay at the property that you want to stay at. You will still be in the area so you can meet up. Secondly, I agree that there needs to be a mutual agreement that no one is joined at the hip. It will be hard with such a large group making dinner reservations and having everyone agree. I would make your own and then modify. We went with a group of 14 and only once did we all eat together. At first I was the one trying to make all the dinner reservations, and then gave up. I made them for my family and who ever wanted to join in, did. It worked out better that way. Good luck.
