Multi contract resv question.

I have 126 AKL pnts banked into 2016 and 88 BWV pnts from a different contract that I want to use for my DD's honeymoon (10 nights studio = 190) resv at Aulani in Sept 2016. The pnts per night for a studio is 19, is it possible to use pnts from two different resorts/contracts to complete a stay. MS suggested transferring between the contracts a few days before the 7 month window opens. I'm concerned I'm going to get stuck with 12 AKL pnts that I will not be able to use. Can two contracts be used on a single day resv? Can I use 12 AKL plus 7 BWV pnts to rent a night?

Thanks!

I sounds as if your contracts fall under different memberships (possibly different UYs?). If they are separate memberships, you would need to do as MS said and transfer points from one membership to the other in order to be able to combine them for use on a single reservation at the 7 month mark.

I am assuming you mean you have contracts with different use years because if they are the same use year, they should be under the same master contract and thus considered as one. With two use years, you can either transfer points from one to other before making the reservation, although already banked or borrowed points cannot be transferred, and then make the reservation 7 months out at 9 a.m. eastern or after by calling MS because you cannot do an online reservation using transfered points from a different use year. In the transfer situation you can use points from both contracts for any night. Alternatively., you can make two different reservations one for some nights using one of the use years, and the other for the rest of the nights using the second use year, and thereafter ask MS to link the reservations, which results in not having to change rooms. Though you can do the two ressies on line, they each have a separate start date when made and thus, for example, you might reserve the first six nights at 7 months out with one use year, and then 6 days later reserve the last four nights with the other use year. If using that method you cannot combine points from one use year with another use year to book any single night.

As to being able to reserve 7 months out, Aulani is usually hit or miss in Sep and for island garden view studios, it is more miss than otherwise. Moreover, you are likely to have issues booking 10 nights in a row in any studio. Thus, do not be surprised if you need to wait list and hope it comes through..

I think you'll only be able to book 7 nights when the 7 mo window opens. Book those nights from the AKV contract if the 126 points will cover those nights. If so, you can then transfer the needed BWV points to the AKV contract and finish out the reservation much like you would if you were walking at 11 months out. If you'll need more than the 126, go ahead and transfer them now. If by chance the BWV points are already banked and MS is telling you they'll transfer them anyway (which they'll often do in this situation), go ahead and transfer them now so that you won't get a different answer when you're at the last minute. Just transfer what's needed and not all of them so you can bank the remaining BWV points within that contract.

Thanks everyone, I will transfer enough BWV (unbanked pnts) to the AKL membership as the resv requires and try to book as many nights as possible online when the window opens up. The MS rep did suggest I call to check availability a few days before so I know how aggressive I need to be. The BWV pnts come from a resale I bought in 2014. I added my DD's name to the membership so she (and her fiance after they were married) could continue to get the DVC discounts since she has moved out of my house.

I'm sure you're already investigating likely availability but the targeted view and unit type may affect the likelihood of success. I don't track availability for HI (for DVC at least) but others do. Sept is a traditionally easy time for HI comparatively speaking so hopefully you'll have your preferred choices available to reserve initially. Unlike walking at 11 months, for the 7 month version day by day is often the best way. In this situation though I suspect you'll have easy availability so canceling online and booking the longer stay may actually be easier and better than calling daily. The other bit of planning is what if you don't get what you want or all the days and how to handle that issue including the waitlist options. Let us knowhow it goes.

AFAIK, the transferred points will not show on-line (might if same home resort). You will need to call MS in order to use those transferred points.
