Mufasa The Lion King debuting Dec. 20th

As expected, Sonic wins domestically with $62M vs Mufasa’s $35M for opening weekend. Global for Mufasa at $122M.

Seeing it discount Tuesday.

This movie is already getting some rave reviews and what I think people are expecting Mufasa The Lion King to be a holiday hit. Because I think Disney needs a hit movie that will do well especially since the failure of Strange World and Wish which did alright but wasn't as successful as Frozen and Encanto were. I think the only movies that Disney wants to focus on are their live-action movies because those movies seem to make a lot of money and Mufasa The Lion King just might be the ticket to Disney's success in the live-action movie department

“Elemental” grossed almost $500 million …. As far as Mufasa… personally, I loved it, but would not say it’s getting raves… critics score is 55% on Rotten Tomatoes… audience score much better .

How long do you think it will be before "Mufasa"'s shown on Disney +? That's probably my only chance to see it.

I thought this movie was 1000 times better than the original "live action" Lion King. I enjoyed the sequel/prequel feel of it and thought the story was great. Most of the songs were enjoyable as well. It looked great in IMAX.

I predict that Mufasa The Lion King will make it's Disney+ debut sometime in March 2025. But judging by how well it's doing in theaters I think Mufasa will knock Wicked off the #1 movie list of 2024 because Mufasa The Lion King is Disney's top live-action movie and a lot of people are liking it a lot

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but im not quite sure what you mean by knocking Wicked off the #1 movie list… if you’re talking about total box office, Mufasa would have to do another $400 million to top Wicked ( let me just add that I absolutely love both movies) . However, you really can’t compare the two… Wicked has amazing critical reviews, and a ton of Oscar nominations coming it’s way. Most likely a win for Supporting Actress for Grande, and it could win Best Picture as well. Mufasa won’t top it because it’s Disney, and alot of people like it.

Don't get me wrong... I love me some Lin Manuel, but Mufasa is NOT his finest work.

On the plus side, IMHO he did knock "Shiny" out of the bottom spot of my "worst songs from a Disney movie list" with "Bye Bye".
I agree. I went into watching the movie thinking the music would be so good and left extremely disappointed. I did like the story, but the music was not good.

Waiting for someone in Disney Marketing to put out a “#1 Movie of the Year” ad. 🤣

According to some reports, there is already another spin-off, live-action Lion King movie in the works. I have no further information than that.

Might have been greenlit , due to box office take

Mufasa hits PVOD on Feb 18th and should pass Sonic 3 on total Domestic box office this week.

No D+ date yet, but likely March/April
