We decided to hear the timeshare presentation for VV. We decided what the heck--we could use the money for more souvenirs. We were impressed with the program, but opted not to do it.
After that we drove across the street to the outlet mall to spend the money. I was so glad that we wouldn't have to drive to Belz which is all the way on the other side of town. I stopped in the Disney outlet store and bought the rest of the souvenirs for co-workers and family. We figured that we could stow the bag in the van and head to Animal Kingdom.
But guess what happened? Those famous Floridian downpours came. We got a bite to eat in the food court and waited for the rain to die down. DS started to get cranky, so dh drove the kids and me back to VV and he went back to the outlet store to catch some bargains.
The kids played in their room for awhile and I watched a little TV. By then, the rain had stopped. DH still wasn't back from shopping, so the kids and I changed into our swimsuits and decided to check out the pool. We left him a note. We had a great time splashing around. DH finally came out and joined us and we stayed out there for another 45 minutes or so.
I explained to dh that we still had one day left on our park hoppers and that we could either save them for a future trip or we could see SpectroMagic. The forecast was for more rain. We took a chance and got dressed (in our matching blue Mickey Mouse t-shirts) and headed for the Magic Kingdom.
We didn't attempt to line up for any rides. Our purpose for being here was to buy souvenirs and to see SpectroMagic. We had a great time browsing through the shops. I bought a Mickey shaped pancake mold/cookie cutter and some frames and a WDW photo album (that all of this year's photos now reside in.)
We walked around and finally found a place to put our Neat Sheet down. Finally, the parade began--it started from Main Street--and we oohed and aahed. It was a nice parade and the lights were nice, but since I have seen the Main Street Electrical Parade (during its run at WDW in 2000) I would have to say that MSEP is the better of the two.
After the parade, we waited for the fireworks. The weather was great--it was actually "cool" outside; and, no rain in sight! This time, I got to see Tinkerbelle's flight.
After we heard Mickey's voice over the loudspeaker saying something to the effect of see you soon. I got misty eyed. I didn't want to leave. We had had the best vacation and I wasn't quite ready for it to end. We sort of sat down and watched people leave. Then we slowly got up to join the masses, and I decided to have someone take a picture of the four of us in front of the Walt Disney/Mickey Mouse statue. I want to get that picture blown up and framed for our family room.
Walking down Main Street for the last time, I stopped to smell the air. It had a sweet popcornish cookie-ish aroma to it.
When we got outside the gate, I wanted to take the ferry back to the TTC. DH said no let's take the monorail because it was the kids' favorite of the two. So we did. I am so glad that I listened to him, because when we got up to the platform, I asked the CM if my family could ride up front and he said YES! We got to do this in 2000, but we didn't get the licenses. A mistake we were not going to repeat this time. On the ride back to the TTC, the four of us talked about the wonderful memories that we had made this past week. When we reached the TTC, the conductor gave us four co-pilot's licenses. We put one in the photo album and dh still carries his around in his wallet.
A perfect way to end a perfect vacation.
June 9th
We flew home.
Nothing too exciting about that.
