June 5th
All week, the newscasters were saying that the Space Shuttle was scheduled to lift off on the 5th. DH was very excited. He really wanted to see this. I sorta kinda wanted to see it, but was hoping that it would rain. I bought five day passes and planned on using them. Each day they reported likelihoods (i.e. 40%, 60%, etc.) By Wednesday morning, they were saying that there was a 30% chance that it would lift off. There was heavy cloud cover and we figured that it would probably rain so we decided against driving to Cape Canaveral. Since he was so disappointed I let him pick the park for the day (out of the choices AK or Epcot) He picked Epcot so off we went.
We had several pictures taken of us in front of Spaceship Earth, including a real cute one of the kids. We later bought them.
Anyway, we did the following:
rode Spaceship Earth; toured the Living Seas area; dropped by Ice Station Cool. I had to try Beverly--it was disgusting!! When dh tasted it he exclaimed that it was foul. The look on his face was priceless. We both enjoyed the lemon lime drink. The kids liked the Japanese drink. Saw Circle of Life movie; saw Food Rocks (we loved that one); rode Living with the Land via fastpass. While dh rode test track (single rider's queue), the kids and I rode Body Wars (once again ds was not too crazy about all of the moving and shaking, but at least he didn't cry) and we watched the Making of me. By the time we walked back to the Test Track area, dh had finished his ride and was waiting for us. Next, it was my turn to ride while dh took the kids for popsicles.
After that, we decided to see the World Showcase (something we didn't get a chance to do on our last trip). So we rented a double stroller ($15--wow!!) While walking, we looked up and guess what we saw--the Space Shuttle taking off. I quickly snapped a picture of it. The developed picture shows a white dot with a trail of thick white smoke. Oh well! and we stopped off at Norway and rode Maelstrom and saw the movie--we all enjoyed that very much. We stopped at the African exhibit and chatted with the shopkeepers. Next up as we approached Germany, we saw Snow White and Dopey who were posing for pictures, so we lined up for a turn. When our turn came, Snow White decided to give my ds a big kiss on his cheek. Well, that left a huge reg lip print on his face so my dd started teasing him and he got embarrassed. From that moment on, when any character came near him, he got real jumpy. I got worried, we had ps ressies for CRT the next day!
Anyway, we made our way around the different areas and we even got to see the "living statue." We walked back around to the United Kingdom where we stopped off to have a bite of fish and chips (delicious).
After that, we headed towards the entrance to drop off the stroller and pick up our photos. We went back "home" and called it a night.
Next up: Marathon Magic Kingdom Day!!
