OK, some thoughts, though I am going to hold of on many until I can see a full video that was done from a tripod..
Missed the opening due to the video problems, which I really wanted to see, such is life, but shows why Max Pass might cause a lot of issues in regards to Cell Phone Networks.
The music wasn't the "original" (From 2009) and wished it was just a cleaned up version from the 70's, edited due to the change in floats. But I expected a newer version before tonight.
Glad to see that most of the floats and performers (including costumes) are from the 70's, even if they are just recreations of the original.
Should be interesting to see how this does with the "regular guest" and that means the locals using the 3 day SoCal ticket offer. Does it drive sales at a good number. That is the key to what happens after June 18th, the current ending date announced by Disney. They could switch back to Paint the Night if they are ready to return from refurb on that date.
Do they just switch the ending date until the start of Fantasmic!, and do a new Marketing promo featuring all the returning things opening in July (hopefully), or do they extend it until the start of the Christmas Season or the early 2018 changeover...
The more 3 day tickets get sold, and how folks respond to the Disney Surveys after entering the park (aka did the MSEP play a part in your decision to come today, etc...), the longer it will remain, And when they get to that decision, get prepared for another Marketing ploy such as selling the Lights off the floats again, like the did in the 1990's...
Should be interesting to watch. I definitely will find a weeknight in the near future with a predicted low turnout to see it in person. And find a good video tomorrow online to watch it again, and catch the start of the parade.
But glad to see it back, and I think a year or so is about the max life of the parade this time around at
Disneyland
