MSEP & Park Hoppers? Recommended Park Conundrum

We'll be traveling in late October/early November and I'm doing a preliminary plan to get our ADRs and to determine whether we'll go 7 nights or 8. Since it's six months out all of this could change, of course.

I'm using the crowd calendar for October and November from the EasyWDW site. Every day with the Electrical Parade is not recommended which makes sense to me but we want to see the parade. If MK will be crazy those days would it make sense to hop to MK to see the parade? We would start at the recommended park in the morning at RD and then go home in the afternoon and go back to MK in the evening for the parade and Wishes.

Does that seem like a good plan or will it be absolutely crazy getting to MK before the parade and Wishes? Also if we did that, would it be too late to stake out a good place to sit?

We'll be traveling with an almost 5 year old.

Also it appears that if we only plan to hop one day, it's cheaper to buy another park ticket than park hoppers. Am I understanding that correctly?

I believe it's $50 per ticket to add hopping, no matter when you add it. That's cheaper than a separate park pass. I seldom pay much attention to park crowd estimators. Unless there's something special going on in a park, the crowds shouldn't be horrible in either Oct or Nov.

I must have done something wrong because adding one more day to the package (from 6 days to 7 days) only increased our cost by $32 compared to increasing it by $191 to add park hoppers.

Is that wrong?

No, it isn't wrong. Disney decreases the price per day of tickets with more consecutive days. Adding one day is only costing you the price of the discounted additional day. Park Hopper adds the cost of Hopper to each day you already had tickets for.

Yes it's cheaper to add an extra day vs park hopper. If it works for your schedule you can use that day as a resort day, downtown Disney day, what have you and then go to MK in the evening.

If you're asking if you can add an extra day to your ticket and then use two "days" to enter two different parks on the same calendar day, then, sorry, no, you can't do that.

That is what I was asking (in this case buying 7 days of park tickets, going to the parks 6 days and entering 2 different parks on one of the 6 days). Does that mean that we have to have park hoppers to do that?

Yes you have to have park hoppers to park hop. Disney doesn't allow you to use 2 basic tickets on the same day to 2 different parks.

But you can't do this! You can't add an addtl day to your multi-day park pass and then use two days in one park. The scanner won't accept it. So, you have to either add the hopping ability, for about $50 per ticket, or pay for a one day park pass....about $100 pp!

I was referring to the pricing. I completely didn't notice they were asking about using two tickets in one day.
