I don't remember this ever happening when making reservations before, but when I called to make a room reservation yesterday (points only), MS asked me for a credit card to put on file, even though the reservation is 11 months away. Is this something new? Thanks.

Same thing happened to me when I made a reservation last week and it was the first time I've been asked, too. I think it is a new procedure and that they just got this capability with the recent system changes.

I just politely said I didn't care to do it at this time. Wasn't a big deal.

The CM that I spoke with said it was to help reduce time at check in. I am sure that during high volume times it does save them (and those waiting) time. They can have the card tied to the Keys to the World card before you even get there.

That being said - I know that we won't take advantage of that feature because we don't want that feature active on the kids cards. Plus - we buy our tickets from another place (Undercover Tourist), and we have them tie the tickets (before we use them) to the card itself to reduce the stuff we have to keep track of and carry.

I do see the point, but I think for certain guests, this is a time saver that isn't IMO.

When and where do you have them tie your undercover tourist tickets? We got the ones with no expiration...does that matter? So excited to hear the answer to this cause I was dreading losing those little paper tickets.

They will ask and you can decline. NO CC, no charging on the room keys. Even for an exchange when you pay the $95 fee by CC, you can have the NOT link the card to the reservation itself.

Thanks for the replies. We do tend to give them our CC at check-in for charging purposes; I like to see all of our WDW charges on the check-out invoice (and yes, it can be scary to open that envelope on check-out day!).

I just hadn't remembered ever being asked for the CC 11 months away from the trip, and the more I thought about it the more I wanted to make sure that it was for Disney's use and nothing shady. I'm glad to hear others have been asked recently, too.

Just take the tickets that you are planning on using that trip (not the ones for future visits) to the concierge desk and they will put them on your KTTW cards.

Ever since the change in systems last December, some concierge desks at some resorts have had problems, sometimes insurmountable, in putting tickets on cards, FWIW.

So, that's why the concierge at BWV was crossing his fingers in April. I thought he was just playing.
