FYI

In connection with honeymoon trip I booked for DS early next month, I finally received a letter from MS yesterday as the Luna Clown Slide Closure.

They mentioned that "as a Disney Vacation Club Member, you have the exclusive privilege to "pool hop"...during this time, Members will have the privilege of pool hopping to Stormalong Bay pool at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. Shuttle transportation will be made available for Members wishing to travel to Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts".

Since my DS no longer resides @ home, he doesn't have a DVC member card & I was concerned that "as renters" they wouldn't be able to enjoy the above accommodation.

I called MS & spoke to a CM who initially wasn't sure but, checked w/supervisor who indicated that ANY guest @ BWV could avail themselves of the shuttle & usage of SAB.

I hate to get my kids' hopes up & then, once they arrive @ Disney, they're not able to access the pool.

Have they allowed non-members to use SAB during past refurbishments.

Why not call the BW directly and ask what their policy will be non-DVC guests, both at BWV and at BWI? IMO, I can't imagine that they wouldn't give those on cash reservations the same pool options (imagine a family forking over big $ for the Inn and not have a feature pool available :furious: ).
Hope it works out for your DS, and how nice of you to provide the honeymoon accomodations! :goodvibes

Take a look at the new thread I just posted regarding the MS letter I received stating the whole feature pool at VWL will be closed during our visit.

Your letter offers a shuttle to the exclusive SAB pool at BCV - my letter offers NO shuttle for an ENTIRE POOL CLOSURE (not just the slide). My letter also fails to mention the long and inconvenient procedure of using bus service to first go to a park so I can get a 2nd bus to the hotel I want to pool hop in. My letter also reminds me that Storm Along Bay & the Uzima pool are exempt from my pool hoping priviledges.

I'm waiting for responses to my thread before I decide what to do. Have a great vacation - the pool at SAB is fantastic & your kids will love it!

Best wishes,
Dave

Does make sense that everyone @ BW, Inn & DVC, should have the same access.

I don't give much stock in calling WDW for answers, always seems that you get a different one each time you call...think they make it up as they go sometimes.lol
Exactly why I take notes as to names, dates, etc.;)

BTW, I've been calling them every week since I read the info on our sponsor's travel site @ top of our thread. As of last week, MS still indicated that the slide WOULDN'T be closed. :confused3

Unfortunate that we got the word 18 days prior to their arrival, certainly well past the cancellation period...not fair.

Wonder if SAB will be able to handle the influx of additional guests, since all of DVC is totally booked the 2nd week of Jan?

sorry to hear welcome home, you must be disappointed.

In the past, they've allowed all resort guests limited pool hopping privledges - when the theme pool is closed they don't limit it to DVC members. Limited meaning that as DVC members you can hop to the Poly - as a BWV CRO guest or renter, you are limited to SAB.

Its usually the closest theme pool. Poly guests to the Grand Floridian....

So, is it safe to assume they will check room keys from BWI and BWV to ensure that guests are in fact staying at those resorts?

I wouldn't want anyone getting the idea from this thread to take advantage of the situation and pool hop SAB during that time.

.

I have been doing the same...the closure has been posted here on the DIS and on Deb's site for weeks (allearsnet)...why on Earth wouldn't MS know about it?

Just wanted to let you know, from our experience, that there shouldn't be any problem. We stayed at BWV a couple years ago and also got a similar letter regarding the slide being closed etc.

We, and our guests who had no member cards, took advantage of the shuttle to SAB without problem. We did need to show room keys, but that was it, not member cards. The shuttle was a quick ride in the overgrown golf cart type vehicle. It worked out just fine for us.

thanks for all the info!

wouldn't stress so much, it's just that I want the honeymoon to be perfect:)

glad to hear confirm as to all BW guests being included, not just DVC.

Being able to enjoy SAB is a blessing in disguise IMO.:thumbsup2

Here is a link to the closures schedule

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/rehab.htm

It says: Keister Coaster pool slide closed from 1/8 - 1/21/07 (Pool remains open) :confused3

I'd be interested to know if there are any non-DVC members who are staying at the Boardwalk Inn who have gotten a letter informing them of the slide closure and telling them they can use Stormalong Bay.

I received the letter, as I have guests styiing during that time. The letter states that as DVC members we have the privilege to pool hop, and the pool hopping restriction on SAB will not apply during this time. So, the letter I received is very specific to DVC. I'm curious as to whether they have another letter for people at the Inn. The whole of the Boardwalk is a big resort, and I can imagine SAB could be overrun if everyone staying there had access.

Anywho, regarding the question of a guest of a member, who doesn't have a member card, taking advantage of the pool hopping privilege......I double checked the member website. It specifies that members and their guests need to present their "Key to the World" card with the "Member" designation. So, for purposes of pool hopping from BWV to SAB during this closure it would seem that a Boardwalk Resort ID with the "Member" designation would do the trick. I'm also sending my guest the letter as backup.

I suppose if Boarwalk Inn guests and BWV guests on cash reservation are also allowed access to SAB during this time, than any Boardwalk Resort ID would be sufficient.

I was told by MS supervisor that:

1) ALL DVC guests (member or otherwise) may use SAB w/room key card for id (i'm giving DS the letter too, just in case.

2) Non-DVC members are not permitted to pool-hop anywhere else during this time.

Curious, will my son's key card have the DVC member designation on it?

When they did this last time, they handed us a "Boardwalk Guest" (not specifically DVC, went to both the DVC side and the Inn side) letter saying that we could hop to SAB. They even provided a golf cart if you didn't want to take the launch (I don't know if they'd continue to do that - seemed like most people walked or took the launch). They did say to bring your room key because they will card over at SAB (and they did!).

The process may have changed (as I said, the golf cart seemed like unused overkill), but I'd guess most of the process has stayed the same.

I was told a shuttle will be available.

Assuming you made a reservation in his name using your DVC points, yes....his resort ID's will have the "member" designation. The one time I rented points from someone else my resort IDs had "member" on them. I believe anyone staying on DVC points will have the designation.

Yes, his name, my points; any lingering doubts I had have lifted, thank you very much.:thumbsup2
