The good new is chat was a two min wait, and I sent and email to MS and got an answer in under two hours. But not the answer I wanted.

We have several days at AKL and several days at BLT. I saw a day open at BLT. We love AKL but BLT is so much easier with transportation with a scooter. So talked to chat , can we drop/add a day? Yes, but AKL has to be dropped first and then book BLT and you might lose both days. I don't want to chance that. So can we do a waitlist, so the points are switched without the chance of losing both nights. Can't make a waitlist on a room that is available.

So I either take a chance and lose both days or have to wait until the room is not available to waitlist. Thus my grrrrr.

Do you have the points to book the BLT first? I always do it that way, book first and then cancel or modify the other reservation.

That is what I would do although if the reservation is less than 30 days out then you can't or the points will go into holding.

yes and no, I can borrow points but, since we had to cancel our last trip due to AFib, and we are still dealing with this, I'm hesitate to borrow points incase we can't go . If we can't go on this trip, we can still bank these points.

Unfortunately , that is how the system works. MS can not 'hold' inventory.
Remember you can switch your borrowed point to use them first , then remaining point can be banked.

But isn't that what they do when they fill a waitlist. Don't they hold the one room, while they cancel and transfer the points to the new room?

Kind of two systems . The WL program is looking for certain dates to store if they come available . Then it replaces the room that is not wanted/needed any more.
The cast member can not be that fast or can't hold both rooms at the same time.

Just to clarify you have to cancel at least 31 days out, not 30.

At 30, all go into holding. And while the waitlist does pick up and hold the room while it waits to be processed, waitlists can only be put in for a room unavailable to be booked.

it does put you in a catch 22 right now.

We were days away from last trip. Two weeks, my birthday sniff sniff...... Dr said enjoy trip, no rollercoasters. 4 days ahead, back into AFib. MS allowed us to return points into use year, without holding. Would not expect anything like that again. If he doesn't get back and stay there for weeks, we will cancel at least 31 days ahead.

This is not quite the way wait lists work. Wait lists either make an entirely new reservation or replace a single reservation with a new single reservation. You are trying to simultaneously modify 2 reservations. If your original reservation had been individual nights at both resorts, then yes you could have replaced a single night at AKL with the same night at BLT. That would work with MS, WL, or modify online. There is no way to split reservations into multiple consecutive smaller reservations with either MS or online, that is what you would have needed. I have actually made my original reservation at SSR as individual nights at the 11 month mark. Then at 7 months, I can modify the front end or back end as individual nights at another resort. This gives me flexibility and also makes 1 day WL's which are much easier to fill.

No points are in holding. You may have pick up the word holding, when I mentioned our Dec trip, we needed to cancel 4 days out due to the fact the heart shocking on DH didn't hold and he went back in AFib. MS put the points back into normal use. No holding.

They can't in one transaction convert one of those nights into a BLT night. So last night the night we wanted was open. Not one to panic but please hurry MS. Yes, I know they are off and they deserve it.

This morning still open but still wait list not filled. I'm hoping a computer is holding a room for us and we just need for humans to come back and put it in my bucket.

I'm afraid to try to drop a night at AKL and add BLT on my own.
