I was SO proud of how these students viewed the festival and how seriously they took the assignment to learn about cultures and foods. As I ran into various students during the day, they seemed genuinely excited about what they were experiencing. Some of my observations (and sorry- I did not have a camera):
Among the 41 students on the trip, it seemed that they covered just about every country. Many of them were so advenurous they even tried South Africa. Most of them I talked to said that they took pictures, so you should be able to see a great deal of pictures from the various countries.
Many of them travelled in groups, took turns buying entrees in the various countries and then shared them. They all thought this was a great way to try many different things and not be "stuck" with something they truly did not like. SOMEBODY in the group would eat it.
I know, I know, Beaches and Cream is not a "cultural experience;" however, it is one of my favorite little known places that most locals here in Florida have never been. I always like to introduce them to it if they'd like to try it.
An anecdotal side note: I was wih a group of them who ordered the "Kitchen Sink." I had never seen one up close, only pictures. It was a sight to behold! Especially the dimming of the lights when it was presented and the big production the cast member who made it went through when he gave it to them. That was more fun than eating my own "No Way Jose" (almost!)
Lastly, a pregnant teacher ruled by cravings and the Epcot Food and Wine Festival (not the wine, obviously!) is a recipe for disaster. So much for healthy eating for two!
Hope you enjoy their reviews! We had a blast!
