Last year we were at WDW and they had this Mr. Potato Head that you could decorate with all sorts of special pieces from Disney. Is the Mr. Potato Head available in DL? If so, where can I find him and do they have special things that are just for Disneyland? Thanks,

He's available at DCA - EnginEar Toys -- as you enter, it's on the right-side. You pay one price for all you can fit in the box. I remember Disney specific parts, but I don't remember if there were DL specific parts.

They sure do. It's in a little toy shop (on the right) as you come into DCA.
I think it's called Enginear Toys.

Not sure if there is anything specific to Disneyland that they don't have at WDW? We've stopped in a couple of times and I know the kids said they had slightly different items each time.

Oops, looks like Mary Jo beat me with the answer as I had to make run to the bus stop with DD mid-post.
:sunny:

I have heard the heads are the same as the regular ones, if so, I can bring my own head and just fill the box with parts? I figure if I pack the Ms. Potato head my dd already owns she can get more parts and still play with it in the room. Has anyone tried this? Also, how much for the box?

My SIL did that -- she got the heads someplace else, and filled the box with body parts & accessories, and still had room to put in a couple of extras. It was $18 + tax, and her little boy loved it!

I would like to also know whether there are special pieces that you can only get at DL.

This sounds like fun (I have a 4 year old) but I don't get it? Can you explain a little more about it and "the box"!

This is a picture of my SIL last December filling a box of Mr. Potato Head parts
for her son. There is a Mr. Potato Head laying on the counter next to her, as well as samples of some on top of the containers.

For a price (in December it was $18) you fill up the box, and whatever you
can fit & still close the lid is what you take with you. It's less expensive to
purchase the head at Target, or some other similar store, and buy the arms,
shoes, eyes, hats, etc., etc., and fill up the box with those pieces. The
hands at the DCA store can hold the Mickey bars & other props whereas
the "normal" Mr. Potato Heads are sold are closed & cannot hold anything.

You can see in the pic below some of the pieces that are offered.

My two year old ds loves playing with Mr. potato head. Now I know what to use his Disney dollars for, Mr. potato head parts and his other passion, hats. . :earboy2: .

So if you do NOT bring your own head then you have to fit THEIR head AND the parts you want into that small box and pay the 18.00...is that right? The idea being you get more parts for 18 (or so bucks) by bringing your own head? Am I getting it?

Yes, that is correct. If you don't bring your own head, you can fill up the head with parts before you put it in the box, but you can definitely get more parts in the box without it.

I'm thinking that my 4 year old is going to want to "try on" accessories and play a bit with it before finding what it is she wants. Is this place geared for that or is it more get what you want and get out?

Yes, "grownups" can get into this fun too! I am a social worker and work with kids so I got one last year and have it in my office. It is a great conversation piece, plus I love the Disney added touches! I plan on adding to my collection when I go to DL in May!

We did this and packed the box full of parts! I wish I would have brought our potato head from home on vacation with us. The first box (yes I said first) we got I didn't get the head, just packed the box. Well, ds was upset when we got back from the park, so we went back and I got another box of different parts and a head. If you do get the head, pack it as full as you can with the smaller parts.

Don't forget to pack the part of the head that opens. We leave on the 19th, and I am, right now, going to go find my dd's Ms. potato head and put it in the to pack pile. My plan is to try and hide it so she doesn't know I've taken it. 9 days and counting... :rotfl: :goodvibes :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Thanks so much for the tips...I think I'm getting the picture!! I'll get a few heads before we go :)

what the heck is "the part that opens"?

The back end of the potato. My kids would call it something else though! You can pack quite a bit into it. Especially the smaller parts like eyes, ears, etc.

I'm following you now...the little storage compartment...I remember that little bit in Toy Story when the Ms. Potatoe head is packing everything he'll need in his "trunk" area!
So, then if you bring your own Potatoe head can you STILL pack stuff into that back area of the potatoe...or only if you "buy the potatoe" with the box?
