Not sure where to post this question... I know there is a store in DTD that sells the parts to the Mr. Potato Heads and read somewhere about Disney related parts...
QUESTION; Can you fill your box with the Disney parts? What parts are included in the fill your box pins?
Thanks in advance!

At DTD, theres a store called once upon a toy, wth a huge Mr.Potata head kiosk in the front of the sote that sells many parts. Not sure whats the limit on filling up on parts, but im sure thees no maximum amount.

Several years ago we spent a few weeks at New Smyrna beach -- and came to Orlando one day to do DTD. We went to the Once Upon a Toy store and got the potato head box. It was a great investment! My two girls still play with this -- and it was great to have at our beach house for the rest of our trip.

When we were there, we got the potato -- and then filled the box with all kinds of parts -- and don't forget to put as many as you can inside the head. Even when we were checking out the CM made sure to ask if we had crammed as much as we could into the box! I have even seen recommendations to buy your potato head at home (quite inexpensive) and then just use the DTD version to add Disney parts to it -- such as Mickey ice cream cones, autograph books, Disney sandals, Mickey balloons and more. Have fun!

Are they all generic parts or "DISNEY" parts?

sorry posting at the same time! thanks for answering my questions! i'm more excited than the kids! I have my bald potato heads packed and ready to go!

That is a great idea. I may have to do that for DsD as a christmas present :woohoo:

they have both generic parts and Disney parts. The generic parts (simply meaning that there is nothing Disney about them) are different from what you might get in a Mr. potato head kit at your local Target. There are just soooo many options! If you buy your head at home, you can truly fill the box with just parts!

I know my grandson already has a Mr. potato head, but I am confused by your hint to make sure to fill the inside of the head with parts also. I don't remember it having an opening in the head. He also doesn't have the box it came in, so would we have to buy a new one to get the box or do they give you one at DW?

The opening of the head is in the rear end area of the potato head

Yes...you can just get parts. You do not have to get the head, too. Also, Disney provides the box that you put everything into -- you do not bring that. At the store, they also had make your own lincoln log and tinker toy sets where you could choose the pieces to cram in a box!

Also, I have read here on the DIS that the world of Disney store has a pirate box that you put piratey stuff in (coins, eyeballs and the like) ... and my girls are excited to hear that there is a My Little Pony box that you can fill with ponies and accessories, too.

We've done the Potato Head thing on our last 3 trips, and only once got a new potato. The first time we did it they only had separate arms that were holding Disney things like Mickey Ice creams, autograph books, pens, cameras and the like as well as WDW flip flops, mickey glasses mickey ears and oen or two other things. Slim selection. The last two years they have really expanded their selection! Wow! You can get a little mermaid tail & wig, tink wings, a zillion different kinds of character costumes & hats, plus new arms, eyes, and normal parts in either 'regular' or Disney. In Dec 05 the box was $16.99 plus tax and all three trips the box had to 'close' but each time the cast members checking us out had a different idea of what 'close' meant. 2002 the CM said it meant the tops touched, 2004 the CM said you could still hold it by the handles even if they didn't touch, 2005 the CM said it had to actually fold and close at the top. In 2004 we also did the Lincoln Logs and the CM there said closed meant closed. I noticed in 2005 that near the Potato head area was a display on the wall with pre bagged Disney acessories. I saw it on the way out of the store though and didn't check the price.

Oh boy...the My Little Pony box...my daughter will go nuts for this!

Thanks for the info!

YAHOO!! I love dressing up Mr.Potato Head and I should have waited until we went to DTD but instead I got it at Epcot.

World Of Disney has a really cool pirates room and yes you can fill skulls and treasure chests.

We did this last year... the only limit you have is the box must be able to close properly... but we stuffed ours to capacity and got a ton of cute parts... both when we did the Potato head and the Pony stuff...

You don't have to take the head if you don't want, you can just do parts so you can get more stuff...

For the pony... same thing, you don't have to take a pony.. and you can get a ton more because they have "clothes" and you can push them in easier.... we got like 4 of each outfit for the ponies when we did it.

HTH

OH MY GOSH!! This is so exciting, you have no idea!!! I am leavin my son, who is 19months, at home and i think the Mr. Potato head is such a cute idea! How are the lincoln logs disney? Like do they have Mickey on them or what? What are "tinker toys"? And about how big is the boxes? Like how many Mr. Potato head parts can I fit? how many lincoln logs do you get?

I have three married sons with children and everytime we to WDW we get them a box of potato head parts. They love them You can fill the box up with what ever you want to. I don't put in the potato head because you can pick them up at Walmart so I fill them with disney pieces. Did I mention I also keep disney potato heads at my house so when the grandchildren visit (which is daily) they can play with them here also. We all love them! They have things like the Mickey ice cream bar, lanyards, mickey ears (even the gold ones), bows, an autograph book and so much more. It is awesome! Enjoy

They also have a big lego store that I think you buy legos by the pound..not sure exactly I have tried to keep my son out of there...lol :rolleyes1

I just bought my DD(almost 2) a Mrs. Potato head at Walmart for about $5.00 so I want to get the parts for it when we go to DTD. I also like the "girl" colors of legos you can buy by the pound. I cant wait!!! I was worried there was different sized Heads and the one I bought at Walmart wouldnt work with the Disney pieces. Yay!!!!
