Mr. Potato Head question

GC&S said:
When we bought ours in Toon Town last year, we had to buy the head and then fill the box. But we had a great CM who stuffed the body for us, rearranged everything so we got a ton of stuff. Technically the box is supposed to close on its own but she taped ours because it was bulging. Then she threw in some extra parts in the bag. She was wonderful and we had so much fun. It was late during the halloween party so the store was not busy. I can't wait to find more parts this year!

Were special parts available you could only purchase durring MNSSHP??
I am so excited about the PH I am driving my DH crazy!!

Thanks for the picture, Potato Head Queen. Very cool. I like the statue of liberty things! Thanks everyone for the information!

OT, but My Little Pony kit???? What is this? My DD loves My Little Pony.
Yes, it is true! At "Once upon a Toy" they have a "My Little Pony" Kiosk, exactly like the Potato Head station with all things MLP!!
You have your choice of Several MLP's, accessories, barrettes, picnic table, mirror, live music boom box, and my favorite, the Main Street Popcorn Cart that actually pops the corn when you scoot it across the floor. If you have a MLP fan, this is a MUST DO!! $18.00, just fill carefully!!

No, nothing special for MNSSHP - just that the store was empty because everyone was out trick or treating. That would be cool if they made some special parts though!!

Here's what mine looks like right now

Thanks to all for the great information on this thread!

Hopefully in December, we will be able to buy just the extra parts we need - as we got two sets with heads on a past Disney trip.

Thanks for the tips and the link to thw website with pictures.

Here's a suggestion that might help you get more for your $: if you get a suitcase (or more than one), a WDW/DL ticket fits perfectly inside of it. Found that out by accident (the suitcase I picked up had one in it... unless maybe they all do? :confused3 ). If you are getting a potato, here's what I was able to fit in my box (and it promptly burst open within minutes after i left the store, LOL):

Potato Head (CM said lay it down in the box so you can put stuff on top of it and not have all the space on the sides taken up.
Teeth (left that on him)

Inside Potato Head:
Mickey Ears hat
Mickey gloves (one for each hand)
1 pair of eyes
1 pair of ears
1 nose
Autograph book
Mickey clock
GOH badge
Buzz Lightyear gun
Mickey pretzel

Inside the box:
Safari Mickey ears
Sorcerer Mickey hat
Mad Hatter hat
Mickey glasses
Mickey balloon
Statue of Liberty torch
Mickey's yellow shoes (prety big and took up a LOT of room)
pizza w/Mickey-shaped pepperoni
Mickey ice cream
Suitcase (Ticket inside)
star wand
2 arms (make sure you get a R and a L)
Rock n Roller Coaster guitar
Mickey balloon

It took awhile, but I think I managed to get a decent amount of stuff. I also bought the Dumbo ride base. It was really fun, I have to say. :goodvibes

Did you get yours at WDW or in NYC?? Just wondering about the Statue of Liberty crown. :earsgirl:

This is a great thread! Thanks for the tips Potato Head Queen! Hubby told me they sold this at the World of Disney Store (His office is on the same street as it). I plan to buy Christopher the head here and then get the parts as you said. I definitely have to get Leilani the My Little pony one. I think she will freak out when she sees it!!! She is a HUGE MLP fan. Now where is the Once Upon a Toy store at? Is this in Magic Kingdom? I have to write it down as a must see. LOL

Thanks, thelionqueen!
I can't wait to tell DD about the My Little Pony items. She will be so excited!!!

This is such an excellent thread! I have decided to buy multiple boxes (if they allow that), so I can get a great head start on unique Christmas gifts for my nieces and nephew. I plan to just ship them right home. I'm hoping a helpful cast member will work with me to get as much as possible in 5 or 6 boxes. I was wondering if buying in bulk is allowed?

Thanks!
Maria

This is Disney and they will be more than happy to take your $18 for each box you purchase not matter how many that may be.

:rotfl2: That's what I figured. Seriously, for a gift they can't get anywhere else, $18 per little kid for us is not a bad deal...Plus, I will be done shopping well before December, and I won't waste time or gas!

I'm getting MLP for the girls and PH for the boys. O.k., my ds's box may have a few parts for me in it...maybe I'll just get my own box!

Once upon a toy is at the far end of Downtown Disney (by Rainforest cafe & Cap'n Jacks) Not sure of direction (n,s,e,w) just at end. Ghiradelli is also at this end. If you find World of Disney it's fairly close by. have fun!!

I got my Mr. Potato body at Wal-Mart, and it came with a few non-disney parts. We got our parts at Once Upon A Toy. It cost $18 for a box w/ the parts and everything. We got a Goofy hat, Mickey Mouses shoes, A WDW/DL suitcase, a WDW/DL ticket, A pair of turqouise and purple eyes (I think they are Haunted Mansion eyes.), A Mickey Mouse shaped balloon, a classic Mickey Mouse hat, a princess Minnie hat, the Rockin' Roller Coaster guitar, a classic Mickey Mouse ice cream bar, a Mickey Mouse shaped video recorder, a Minnie Mouse bow-tie, a magic wand, a Mickey Mouse sorcerer hat, Mickey Mouse shaped glasses, a Mr. Potato Head Guest of Honor pin, a Mickey Mouse signed autograph, a princess or queen crown, the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin seat, and the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin shooting gun. At first, we couldn't get everything into the box, but with some thinking and guess and check, we finally got everything into the box. The lady who rung us up said that there was still room to put stuff in it, but we would of had to dig everything back out and redo it, but we said no. I hope this helps you out!

Our sons aged 17 & 16 had THE MOST fun filling the box with Mr potato head for their cousin back home. They are on sale in lots of stores, even the one in Pop Century Resort for $18 + tax of course.

We crammed it all in, but some of the parts were quite big like the Mad Hatter's hat. Also we ended up with 3 left arms and a right arm - be careful with that one. The disney tickets and cast member badge are cute, but we haven't worked out where to attach them - He can't hold a guitar & a ticket at the same time definitely. ::MinnieMo

Does anyone know all of the places you can get these parts at WDW?? I know DTD and MouseGears but I have seen some resorts listed. Does everywhere have the same parts or can you get different part different places?? Also where all can you get the special packs, I read about a pirate pack from PoC.

Come October I am on a Potato Head Mission!! :rotfl2:

There is also a store in Animal kingdom that has the MR. Potatohead stuff. Sorry I don't remember the name though
