Mr. Potato Head / Lego Boxes

We were just there two weeks ago and the price for the Potato Head parts was $19.99. I purchased a box each at Dinoland and Once Upon A Toy - Dinoland had different pieces than the toy store, thus I purchased two boxes. That, and what I purchased last trip - we've got potato head coming out the ears! Yay!

BTW - Target has a remake of the old potato head parts - the kind you use with a potato. I can't remember the cost, though. That's what I had as a kid. I sure wish I hadn't gotten rid of them!

The legos are more of a big plastic tumbler and they had pieces other than blocks. Doors, whels, windows, etc.

Do you get them a the lego store in DTD? So is like a tumbler and you can put what you want in it? Are there people parts? Are they big tumbers? Thanks so much~my boys are freaking out already

Are the Legos in the same stores as the Mr. Potato Head and My Little Ponies, or are they in the Lego store in DTD only?

We always get out ponies and mr. potato head boxes at once upon a toy at DTD. The ponies are all the way in the back and the potato heads are right there when you walk in the front doors. (As of Sept. '06)

Can you do this at DL as well? I never did it, because we have 3 MPH at home and always thought you had to include a new head.

The containers sort of look like plastic deli containers (that you get potato salad in); one is around 5" tall and the other around 8". There are lots of basic brick parts, plus doors & frames, windows & frames, wheel hubs and tires (make sure you get matching sizes and put them together before putting in the container), axels, trees, plants, flowers, roof parts, car parts, etc. Sometimes there are people accessories (hats, snowboards, etc.) but it just depends. The bricks are usually all different colors and sizes...from clear, thin one knob pieces to bigger pieces.

The trick is to put them in the container in an orderly kind of way, especially the bigger pieces. Snapping them together can save a lot of room, too. Then when you get to the top, add the tiny pieces and start banging them on the counter to pack everything in! Trust me, you won't be the only one doing this!

I've never seen Lego people in the 'pack your own' area. They have a separate area to create your own Lego figures...you get 3, plus an accessory each (gun, sword, hat, helmet, etc.) each and a case to carry them in for $10. They also have keychains with Lego figures on them for around $4...Star Wars, Harry Potter, and characters like that. My son has bought those before, and we just cut off the little hook off that holds the keychain when we got home.

If you're able to go to any offsite stores, pick up the coupon books that they have by the entrance/exit. There are one or two that have the same Lego coupon.

Thanks so much for the tip, I will definately do that! I know each of my boys will spend at least $50.00 each on legos!!!
