After our fantastic evening at the Boardwalk with our own Magical Moment could it possibly get any better as we move to the Polynesian.
Actually, no, it could not.
WARNING if youre the type who doesn;t like to hear complaints then read only the first half of this report. Mr.mike is not one to complain. I might comment on things but it takes a lot to get me angry. For instance I didnt mention the maid in the Boardwalk. She didnt make up the daybed. She tucked in the sheet and moved the cover (comforter?) to a corner of the room and placed the pillows on top. Just a glance at the room and you can see it wasnt made. Not sure how she started to make it then stopped and then forgot but it happened. Big deal? No, not really. It should have been made but we didnt really care. Little things like that happen, nothing you can do, not a big deal.
Also, I almost fell asleep twice while writing this but I needed to get it done before bed. There is probably more than one spelling error and other sentence structure problems.
Anyway..the day started with a 6:30 wake up. I wanted to hit Mission Space before we checked out of the Boardwalk inn today. Got to the international gateway at 8:45 and just before 9am they let us in. We walked to mission space, watching quite a few people sprinting by us. Wirh strollers it is strictly walking, unless you are going down a hill and the kids ask you to let go. They really seam to like that.
My mom and I went on mission space and grabbed Fps as we entered. They were for 9:30 so if we loved it we could go again. Mrs.Mike went for Test Track Fps. Start time was 10:40.
Mission Space was fun. Not too short, and the ride FELT amazing. The G-forces you feel on your face is like nothing Ive ever felt before, Simply Fantastic.
We didnt feel any after effects from the ride, BUT, if you are the tiniest bit claustrophobic becareful riding this. You get in a small compartment but then the front wall advances toward you, leaving very little space in there. I felt a bit uncomfortable until the lift off started.
Mom didnt want to go again so I gave the Fps away to a couple walking up to the ride. *good deed #1 for today*
Had a small breakfast from a capuccino cart, people watched and fed a bird with a strange growth on its leg.
Next the children asked for Space Earth and who could resist that one? Great as usual, especially the music as you head back down backwards.
The character bus had arrived as we exited and we wathced Minnie dance. She was doing some amazing moves. She likes to get down!
It was 10:30 already and we skipped Test Track because check out is 11am. Headed back to the room ( love that short walk to Epcot) Called for our bags to be stored and hit the Boardwalk.
Note; is there any where else to get coffe in the moring besides Boardwalk Bakery? The 2 morning we passed it the line was out the door.
On the boardwalk we rented a surrey bike. It was $20 for 30 minutes. The kids sat up front inthe basket and the 3 of us peddled. Around the lake is 7/8 of a mile. We warned about the two hills on the path. One is going to Epcot from the Boardwalk inn and the horrible one is near the Yacht club heading towards the Swan and Dolphin.
On one of the trips around the lake I had to get out and push them up the hill. We handed it back in with 10 minutes left. We couldnt do it anymore. WE asked what was the record for going around the lake. He told us 7 laps . We did two.
Okay it was after 12, time to hit the Poly. Bell services brought our luggage and I have to add this is a very easy service to use. I used to carry a lot of things myself. No more..
We drove over to the Poly and were greeted quickly and our bags were taken away. Also were greete by my Dad who drove up to visit us.
it was now 1pm. And the line for check in was long but I didnt wait more than 15 minutes
The woman who checked us in was polit but not very friendly. And she asked to see our AP for the reservation in a tone like we were crazy not to have it out. (This I sone of those not a big deal events but we are so disgusted tonight that ( i;m sorry) you are going to hear them all.
She told us our room was not ready but we got our request of the Somoa building. She told us to get a bite to eat and com back by 2:30. I was more than willing to wait because the location was perfect. Went to eat Lunch with my dad at Capn cooks and had a nice time. It felt great to be bacl at the Poly seeing the Sights. ( Volcano Pool, beach, the grounds. AHHHHHhhhhh)
We checked back at 2:30, ..told us 15 minutes. WE checked at 2:55.... told us 15 minutes. Checked at 3:08... told us just 10 minutes more. Well check in is officially not until 3 so you really cant get mad.
At 3:25 they told us Somoa #1601. ALLRIGHT! Got the first floor, really wanted that. As we walk from Capn Cooks over the little bridge towards Somoa we look at the room numbers posted onthe Balcony. OH MAN look 1601 is the first room. WE have a first floor room, facing the Volcano Pool. And the entrance to that building is right outside our front door. There is no room across the hall. I walk out our front door and can jump into Quiet pool. I slide the patio door open and can within 1-2 minutes be at the pool, beach, lobby, monorail or capn cooks.
I really dont believe there is a better room for garden view.
The day got strange and went downhill from here. As we headed into the building and towards the door I asked Mrs.Mike to use her key. A man names Louis told us to wait. He wanted to check the room. We asked if we should come in. He said no...wait a sec and use your key to come in. As we exchanged confused glances, we tried our key and walked in. The man was on his hands and knees looking under the armoire . With another exchange to each other we ask is anything wrong. He says oh, no not at all. BUT if you see or find anything at wrong with this room you give us a call He said it in a very strange tone but we answered that we were sure everything would turn out fine. He said it again that if we find anything wrong to call. We say okay and unpack.
When he leaves we look again at the armoire wondering why he was looking underneath and we noticed it was on an angle. One side had pulled out from the wall. I, with some help, pushed it back even with the wall. On the rug where the leg had been was now a yellow gummy substance. I pulled most of it up with tissues, not wanting the kids to touch it.
Now of course I wasnt going to call on this one thing. Then the lamp light kept flickering on and off. Well we will probably call for that. Im going to need that light near the table to use the computer at night.
By now the kids had gotten antsy. It was 4pm we had 5:30 PS at Crystal Palace and wanted to be inside MK before the Halloween party started. Wanted to get our picture taken, done some trick or treating and rode some rides before the regular crowds showed up.
I figure we could take a quick dip in the Volcano Pool. AS we get bathing suits we notice a hole in the wall near the beds with the bathroom on the other side. It is not a huge whole; it looks like some might have kicked the wall with thier shoes on. Okay now we have a hole and yellow gummy stuff and the lamp. Okay we call and mention everything. The CM says did you say a hole? They sounded pretty concerned.
Just before we leave Mrs.Mike says she found something else. First a rip inthe wall paper of the bathroom. Okay not horrible. Then she shows me next to the rip is a blood stain about 2 to 3 inches long with a drip of blood on the floor underneath the stain area.
Okay, now we definately call again.. This second CM also sounds very concerned and says they will take care of it. With a slowly growing strange feeling inside I take the kids out the patio doors to the pool steps away. My barefoot son kicks a piece of glass on the patio. What?!! Glass now, what is going on? I pick it up and toss it in the garbage not really thinking else except dad should have out shoes on him. On the way back in after a fun 20 minutes we notice another piece of broken glass. And another...and Another. We find at least 4 pieces of broken glass. I look at the next patio and cant find anything. I walk inside and ask Mrs.Mike if anyone came yet. She tells me no one has arrived and we call a 3rd time and mention everything previous plus the glass. They assure me they will send someone right away. We inspect the room more. We find the safety latch on the patio doors is missing. I take a shower and get dresses and still no one shows up.
Its now 5pm and we are not going to make our PS at the crystal palace. Getting a bit annoyed I walk to the lobby and speak to someone. I tell him we called already. I tell him about louis. I tell him all the things we found and how uncomfortable we feel staying in the room. He asks if I want housekeeping to clean it again? I say as much as I like this location, knowing there is nothing better I think we shouldnt stay in it. If my kids get cut or hurt or anything Ill blame myself for not leaving when I had the chance. He opens a door in the wall behind the lobby desk and talks to a manger. When he returns he says again he can send housekeeping over or he can move us but they packed and it wont be as good as room as the one i;m in. I say it doesnt matter, we dont feel comfortable and I think we should move.
They move us to Rapa Nui, 3rd floor at almost the end of the hallway when the only elevator is at the opposite end. You couldn;t find a worse location if you tried. I ask him if a manger is going to come look at the room. He say that housekeeping will be coming. I repeat, will a manager be coming? He says hes sending the Housekeeping manager. I ask about the resort manager and he says each department has a manger and the housekeeping manager will be coming.
I head back to the room, apologize to everyone and say we have to move. We pack everything up and as bell services arrive I leave with my mom and kids to bring them to the new room so they wont be interrupting us as we speak to the manager. When I retuen to Somoa, I find my wife sitting there. Bell services left. He asked what the problem was and when she told him about the blood he laughed..... in a shocking sort of way .
It is 6pm now, an hour after my visit to the desk and no one has called or shown up. Now we are very angry. I call AGAIN, and immediately ask for a manger. I tell him everything from the beginning and he says yes I overheard some of that when you were at the desk. I told him I find it strange that no one has called or came by after telling them we found blood on the wall. The spot is not near the shower or the sink. This wasnt from cutting themselves shaving. He says he will radio the housekeeping manager and send him right away.
After another 10 minutes I call my mom in the new room and tell her to come back. When she arrives I plan to call the desk again and tell them imleaving and have a manager contact me later.
After 10 more minutes the housekeeping manager shows up, apologizes and says he just found out right now about the situation. This is two and one-half hours after our first call and he was just notified.
We go over the list reminding him of what Luis said and hoe he acted
1. Yellow gummy stuff where the armoire was moved
2. Hole in the wall
3. Rip in wallpaper
4. Blood on the wall
5. broken glass pieces on patio
6. Security latch missing on patio door.
We tell him we missed our PS at crystal palace and how we were supposed to be at the Halloween Party.
He offers to take some money off todays room bill. I tell him what id really like is a different room. He askes if this same type of room would be okay facing the volcano pool. I tell him the most important thing really is having a first floor because of the kids. He then says another first floor samoa room facing the volcano pool would be good? I answer yes but again the first floor is what we really need. He says he will check with the room assignor and will definately be in touch with us.
The kids and my mom show up and we leave now to get to the party at peak arriving time...just before 7pm. Everyone is hungry and we adult are a bit cranky from that. I do my best to make sure the kids have a great time. We see the parade, fireworks, and ride the mad tea party twice, and Buzz countless times. Each time they said again we said yes and did it again. They had a good time and passed out in the strollers. Headed back to the monorail and got out at the TTA because our room is so close to it. I feel bad for mom who didnt eat anything since the lunch we had while waiting for the samoa room at check in. She is not keen on fast food and was looking foward tot he crystal palace more than any of us. I am so thirsty now but no one feel like walking all the way to capn cooks and back.
We have an 8:05 for the castle tomorrow but we are going to skip it. We are all pretty tired. Didnt leave the party till after 11. Put out a room service card for breakfast. We are now thinking of heading to typhoon lagoon, because At least mrs mike and I dont feel like being here.
Of course we keep discussing how wonderful the Boardwalk Inn was.
I also figured wed find a message on the voice mail from the manager or someone but nothing. I mean seriously, how hard is it to find out when the next room on the first floor some where will be vacant? Mr. Mike on Tuesday we will have a 1st floor room for you here, Is that okay?
Im so sorry to be venting but I needed to and I understand why when other trip reporters did it also.
Its 2:16am
im heading to bed. Oh yeah...been in this room for what 2 hours now and the lamp over the bed is not working... neither is the remote for the TV and there is some stranger white toothpasty looking stuff on the handle of the front door. Yuck.
