MR January 29 2012- Who's in?

It's gotta be the whole "Magic" of Disney, b/c you guys have me talked into the FE!

We have two rooms:

in room 2133
Caelan- 16 (boy)
James- 14
Eliajh- 11

in room 2643
Macylea- 14
Mackenzie- 7 (girl)

As for snow, well we got our first of the year on Halloween and it hasn't stopped since :rotfl:

The GOOD thing about living in Alaska is that I only have to stay awake until 8pm tonight to start booking, :cool1:

I don't think we're doing FE's this time :guilty: as fun as they are! I run a craft business that is of course, very busy at Christmas time. Last cruise I was so burnt out after Christmas it took a LOT of motivation to finish our gifts. I might still change my mind but as of right now, I don't think our family will participate.:sad1:

I understand about being to busy with the holidays coming up. We've elected to not put up a big tree this year because we're just to busy getting the house ready to sell and a trip on top of it now. I think you should take part but just not think you need to need to go crazy making things.

Either way we know your room number and if something lets say... just shows up in front of your door at some point then so be it. :rolleyes1

Welcome to our happy group.

well I can book Palo ( brunch day 2 at 10:30am for me and DH and Day 7 for my dad, and DH's mom and dad) BUT.... I can't book a port arrival time!!! I read this happens. I wonder how late I'll be up tonight trying to get an early arrival?

I booked a 12:30 port arrival time, on the theory that we didn't want to be hanging out forever. Last time we got there early-early due to our flight, shuttle, etc. and it seemed like it took eons to get to our cabin . . . the kiddos were kind of at loose ends. They apparently don't like to hang out at the on-deck bar and try the drink of the day (that was Granddad's idea, I swear! LOL) I figured we'd be better off waiting a bit. Are there more advanced theories on that?

And y'all have talked me into FEs :) Even my dh, who tends to the shy and not super social, thought it was a fun idea for the kiddos. I can't wait to start shopping as soon as they go back to school after Thanksgiving weekend! It's killing me to not tell them.

Anyway, we are:

Bethany & Drew
Cabin GTY (anyone know when we'll hear on that????)
Aidan (boy, age 11)
Riley (boy, age 8)

I agree. Our first Disney cruise was last year on the Dream and the girls loved taking part in the FE. For them it didn't matter what they got they were just excited to come back to the room and check their pocket for "mail"! Our gifts to others were not elaborate at all.

I do looove surprises;)

We have an 11 am arrival time. I don't know that we will rush to be there then... but it's good to know we can hurry over if we want.

How many of us are at the Doubletree the night before? We could have a mini-meet :)

Lcvb - what stateroom are you in? I thought on one post you put 5020 but on the list I see 1045? Did you switch rooms?

Sorry new to cruising....

How do you know you're arrival time? I was figuring we'll check out of our hotel and just take a cab to the port mid morning. We're staying at the comfort inn in Long Beach. So I guess we'll just catch everyone at the port or on the ship.

You need to login to the website and preregister for the cruise and you pick your time.

Holy Mahi-Mahi Mail, Mickey!

We are on our first DCL sailing on this cruise :yay: and I had no idea what an FE was until yesterday, it sounds like a great idea for the kids. However, the whole cruise is a christmas reveal :santa: for the kids AND my wife Tara (DW? Disney Wife? Dear Wife?).

So that Tara can participate in the planning experience as possible, I have done the most minimal planning and booking needed. Creating / getting the FE and picking the right fish extender stuffers is definately something she would like.

With that said, is it too late to confirm for FE participation right after christmas?

It would be our two sons and possibly us:
Josh - 5
Jack - 2 turning 3
Tara & Andy - 30's

PS: What are the must book early items?
- cruise - check
- flights - check
- palo dinner - ???
- shore excursions - not yet
- 2 hotel nights - not yet
- ground transfers - not yet
- other???

I think now that we are 75 days out you can book everything. And I would, ASAP. Palo, spa and excursions book fast... Some times and options might already be booked up. Don't wait until you tell your wife- book the good things now. You can always cancel if she doesn't seem interested in those particular activities.

Log in to the DCL site and do online check in too. You get your boarding time then.

I'm trying to do that but I can't seem to find it. Is it in that locked area that you can get into once you pick cash or credit card for onboard account?

Probably... but I honestly can't remember. If you don't want to fill everything in, (credit card # etc) I know whatever we chose we will have to go back and change closer to the cruise because we just filled in whatever was easiest. Even our passport #'s have expired and we just changed the expiration date until the new ones came. (which they now have, thank goodness:))
Honestly, an early port arrival time isn't all that important unless you have dining changes etc. to make right away on board. In February we got to the port @ 12:00 and the computers were down... we made it on board by 1:00 and were in our room very shortly after we had lunch. So unless you really like hanging out at the pool or bar with your carry on bags, earlier is not necessarily better. It's hard to explore with all your carry on bags!

We were in 5020 which I was excited about but then in order to take advantage of the KSF offer we had to move to a different cabin, that's why we're in 1045 now.
