MP3 Player for 6 year old

My DS just sprung on me that all he's going to ask "the real Santa" for is an MP3 player. I haven't even been looking at those. Does anyone happen to know of any good deals? It definitely doesn't have to be a high capacity one. Also, I still have lots of 40% Kodak gallery codes if anyone wants one, PM me. Have a great weekend!

If you are just looking for a music player, the ipod shuffle is nice and easy to manage - there were lots of them on the apple website refurb section...

My now 9yo son wanted an MP3 player a couple of Christmases ago. I was very reluctant to pay for an Ipod for him at age 7. I was afraid he would lose or break an expensive ipod. So, I got a great deal on a Sansa Sandisk Clip MP3 player for him. It is rechargable and has a screen on it. He loves it! 2 years later and it is still going strong!! A friend of mine bought one for her son the same year. He left it in the pocket of his jeans and she didn't know it and washed it.....she was soooo upset. Do you know that it still worked 100% after being through a cycle in the washing machine???

I give it 2 thumbs up...5 stars!!!!

On BF walmart will have a Phillips MP3, I think 4GB, for 29.95. It comes in 4 colors. My 7 y/o son wants one from Santa. If I can't get it online that day I will probably just pay the normal price of 39.95, which isn't bad. Looks like a good deal for a child, he had an Apple Nano from grandmother that he broke already!

Disney Mix Stick!

I second the disney mix stick. It is easy for a young child to use. My dd got hers 4 or 5 years ago and will be giving it to her brother after her birthday next week as she just got the new IPOD touch.

DD got the Disney Mix Stick when she was around 5. She's 9 and it still works, but she really wanted something more "mature" and a display. So, we got her the Sony Walkman Mp3 that also plays videos. She has the 4 gb for under $65. We can put her favorite Disney shows on it. She loves it and now I want one.

You didn't ask for about this, but I would suggest getting one that has some sort of max volume control that you can set. I'm not sure which ones have this feature, but there must be some out there that do. I'm saying this after recently working with 2 students with recent hearing loss.

I also recommend the SanDisk MP3 players. Each of my kids have them and my DH has a pricier model. Great sound, very durable, and you can find great prices on them at Amazon.

I got the sansa shaker (it looks like a little drum) for both my kids when they were 4 and 7. They are small mp3 players that have a speaker and headphone jacks, and a clip that they can attach it to their pants or whatever. Its great because they don't need headphones for it and the sound is loud enough without being too loud, and its so durable and inexpensive. It came in 2 colors, blue and pink and my kids still use them almost every day, 2 years later. Its cute too because it is very simple to use and has a shake feature that when you hold the button and shake the song changes with a cute sound effect, or there is a think to twist to the next song. I got mine on amazon, but had seen it in target and walmart.

I wash and dry my sansa mp3 player and still going strong.
