hi all

My husband and i with our two young kids are finally going to follow what we really want to do and move to Florida. My husbands job is seasonal and every year he goes on unemployment in November- April so some time in January-March sounds great to me. I am nervous that he will not be able to find a job but we are going to save ever cent right now. We do not have a house so we will be looking for apartments. He is finally finishing his college classes right now to get his bachelors degree in accounting.

has anyone just moved like this with no job? Or should he move down first?

are we crazy with two little ones? We have zero family and friends but my heart is in Florida. Even my 6 year old wants to be there.

I am sick of saying maybe when this happens and when we have a house and a better job and the kids are grown there will always be a well if we wait and there is always tomorrow but I know first hand that theres not always a tomorrow. I would love to talk to anyone who has moved. Please feel free to Pm me. Thanks so much.

Here's to making tomorrow happen today!

Jessica

I've never done it, but I think it's great that you all are doing what it is you want to make you happy. Good for you!! Good luck with everything! pixiedust: Here's some pixie dust for you all.

Hi there we are doing just that. My husband did find a job down there and we interview for the specific position after the move. We rented a house and will wander for a few months looking where we want to go. We leave in 10 days! We are moving with a 4 year old in tow too. Good Luck :goodvibes

We took a leap of faith almost 9 years ago when we packed up and moved to another state...DH did have a job offer, but I had to give up a wonderful position I'd had for 11 years -- it was very scary, but it turned out to be the best thing we ever did! So go for it, and best of luck to you!!! :goodvibes

i say go for it..ive been wanting to make the move also but mu husband wants to know he has this amount of $, perfect job, best schools, etc..i think its unrealsitic sometimes. the best plans sometimes are the ones that involve no plans. i think youll do great and enjoy being so close to mickey;)

We just did it in June...we moved from TX to FL because I had lost my job back in March and it is something my wife had been wanting to do for a while so we took the leap and moved down with our 2 kids (7,1)...My wife works for Southwest so moving her job wasn't an issue, we found a nice rent house in Cocoa so we could be close to the beach and Orlando (not to mention the schools are great which was a big point for me), and even though I haven't found a job yet (I've been looking, but not very hard, when the oldest starts school in a month then I'll really amp up my search), everything is working out great

I think you should go for it. Your kids are young, you don't have a house and it sounds like there isn't a career either one of you would be putting in jeopardy. Sounds like now is the time.

I would love to move to Florida but we are in our early 40's, DH has been with company for 20 years this November, daughter is going into 8th grade. It just isn't in the cards for us.

If we didn't have a house to sell, which would be very difficult, we would seriously think about this too.

Hey, you can be poor and out of work in MA, or you can be poor and out of work in FL. I'd take the one without snow too!
Best wishes for a safe and happy move.

i'm honestly considering doing the same myself, albeit i have wayyyy less to worry about. i'd only be bringing my dog along, but i don't think she could handle the weather (she's part ChowChow...yeah she definitely wouldn't be able to handle the weather. :headache:)

good luck!! :wizard:

It could be the best or worst decision you ever make.

But you won't know till you try it.

Will you and your husband suffer regret if you don't?

I just wanted to say thank you for all the help and thoughts. This decision just seems right for us.

Thanks again!

Dh and I would do this in a hearbeat but we are Canadian. We have looked into Visa's etc and it appears the odds are better for us to get hit by lightning twice on the way to claim a big lottery win, then to obtain a US work visa!!!

Good luck to you and your family!
