Moving Woes

Just curious for all of you who have moved lately:

When buying an existing home, has the seller paid for or repaired:
- broken/cracked windows, or
- plumbing leaks.

If they covered that and repairs were not done by closing, how did they cover the costs:
- check for an estimated repair bill,
- Escrow fund to cover repairs,
- Deduction from what you owed them in pre-paid taxes, etc.

Any thoughts/experiences would be helpful.
By next week I'll be able to go to Home Depot and
start spending my life's savings.

We had a few minor repairs that were needed. There were cracks in the chimney and that was part of our contract was for them to fix those and give us a certain amout of money for some electrical problems.

I'll let you know what happens when they don't fix by closing. We, in good faith, closed on the house and now found out that the cracks were NEVER fixed on the chimney causing more trouble with it up there (more deterioration). We are in the process of trying to get the previous home owners to fix it since they neglected the chimney repairs that were listed in our contract. I hope they will just give us a check for the estimated repairs.

We bought our home last April and there were several minor repairs that needed to be done. This area is a very hot market and so they refused to do anything. We had to agree to it because they could have turned around a got more money for the house in a heartbeat.
