Moving within a Resort VS Changing Resorts?

I hope this is the right board, if not, I hope one of the mods will move this thread.

In a point conserving effort, I am thinking about the possibility of planning a trip in a 1 BR Sunday thru Thursday nights at BWV and then moving to a studio also at BMV. I am thinking this would be easier (as in less of a hassle) than moving to a different DVC or other WDW resort.

My other idea is to combine a 5 night DVC trip with an (gasp) offsite stay of give or take a week.

Is my thinking reasonable or would any move be a complete pain?

Anybody else try either of these game plans?

We do this all the time. We often start in a 2 bedroom and down size to the 1 bedroom after our guests leave. We have also started in a studio and upgraded to a 2 bedroom after a few days. If the ressies are linked, you should have no problems, and would stay in the same "unit". If you are going from a 1 bedroom to a studio, you will, of course, have to change rooms, but not a big thing either. At that point though, changing within the same resort or changing resorts makes little or no difference. EIther way, your luggage is handled by the service, and the only difference is where you have to go to check in.

So if your reservations are linked as in going from a 2 br to a 1br or from a studio to a 2 br, you don't actually have to check out of the 1 br part of the 2 br in the first instance or the studio in the second instance?

That does seem easier, just migrate your stuff from the studio part in the first instanceover to the 1 br size and just move your stuff from the studio to the adjoining 1 br in the second instance?

This would only work for non-dedicated 2 BR's, I think I get it. I like the not having to deal with packing the stuff in suitcases etc, and waiting until a room is ready.

Thanks

Do it all the time. We will usually start out in a studio for 1/2 the time then upgrade to a 1br. If the number of the party stays the same, I always found it better to upgrade during the trip than downgrade.

Good advice. Always upgrade... something to look forward to.

We went from a BWV studio to a 1 br and it was relatively painless. We packed up first thing in the a.m. and were ready to "store" our stuff until our new room was available. Lo and behold, one was ready and we just moved down the hall! It was great. We were in the parks by 9:00 am.

Much easier than switching resorts.
