Moving UPDATE pg 4. Neighbors built a cement wall that's over our property line.

I am so glad that everything worked out for you.
That is great that you also met the neighbors and they were nice about it.

I'm so glad things worked out. When we bought our house we ended up selling a strip of property back to the neighbor because his driveway and a corner of his garage were on the property when we were buying it. Lucky the neighbor was also in charge of selling us our house (it was his fathers home). We did not want to liable for anything that might happen on that "disputed" property.

Thanks everyone :flower1:

It turned out well and we don't have to worry about it anymore. :cool1:

We are painting and having furniture delivered so I'm really anxious to get settled.

My kids are so excited to get theiir rooms exactly the way they want them.

Thanks again. :cool1:

The new owners came over last night. They are very nice and wanted to make sure everything was fine.

A happy ending. :cheer2:
Excellent! This really could have blown into a big issue either now or later. No matter how many inches, its a big, big deal. That is why they rectified it immediately - especially the general contrator who could have gotten into a lot of trouble for this.

I work in real estate and oversee the construction of huge multi million dollar projects and the review of surveys and final title plans - we get incredibly nutty about a couple of inches and these are projects where we are building 100s of thoudands of square feet of building. You were absolutely in the right to be concerned.

My DS calls it the "great wall of Sebastian" :earboy2:
Okay, now that explains what my question was going to be, which was, where did you find a $160,000 home in Vero.

Glad everything is working out!

Miss Jasmine,

We really lucked out. Originally we were going to build. The builders raised the prices on homes by $10,000 the first week after the storms. Then they went up another $5,000.

The home we purchased had no damage other than a few missing shingles which my DH already replaced. It's in a great neighborhood.

There were people lined up behind us in case we couldn't close waiting to buy it. We have talked to so many people who said they bought there lots for $10,000 a few years ago and now lots around here are going for $60,000.

Real estate around here is crazy.

You think it is crazy there!! Here in West Palm, the house we were suppose to buy last August for 260k is now selling for 350K!! I wish we had gotten it but the ex wife made some trouble and we dumped it rather than risk her getting any of it.

now..here is the crazier story...we close on our TOWNHOUSE today...we contracted the price on October 20th for 237k...the other end units in the development are now, TODAY, going for 250 - 260k...in one month!! FOR A TOWNHOUSE!!! It is sick and sad down here! I wish things would level off!

Oh yes, real estate is crazy around here. On paper the value of our home has nearly doubled in the four years we have owned it. I am waiting for the bottom of the market to fall out though, and haven't taken any equity out (even though DH is begging for a pool).
