Moving to Richmond, Va advice needed

My dh just took a job in Richmond, VA. I am freaking out a bit- Ive never been there, dont know the first thing about the area- Im hoping that someone could offer some advice about what to expect- some recommendations on suburbs and schools, I have a 5th and 8th grader. I have always lived in the same town so I am definitely new to this whole uprooting process, and definitely not liking that we are moving in the oposite direction of Orlando. I will also have to find a new job, Im a dental assistant so if anyone could offer any advice on any of this please respond.
