Moving to Ohio

Snowblowers are great if you have a long driveway. We got through with shovels on our shorter drive. Companies can charge a lot (out neighbor pd $40) sometimes neighbor kids would offer to do it for $10. We paid $250 for our snowblower at Sears and since we have a longer driveway now at our new house, it's worth every penny! As for coats, this part of OH isn't as cold as a lot of places, so don't stress. Coats can be bought anywhere at any price. Marshalls and TJ Maxx tend to have a lot of coats that are namebrands at low prices.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is our great Columbus metropolitan library. They have branches all over Columbus and several in the suburban areas. Our recreation centers are nice also and most of the suburbs have rec centers as well. The westerville one is really nice.

Along with this, the whole state has a FANTASTIC inter-library loan system & it seems like almost nobody knows about it... not even frequent library patrons. It is so, so simple to request materials from other libraries & they get sent to you SUPER fast.

Our city library is great but there's occasionally books they don't have... all I have to do is look on Ohio Link and there is someone guaranteed to have it.

Welcome to Ohio! :yay:

The snow in Columbus will probably shock you being from Georgia - but like a previous poster said, it's nothing like NE Ohio. Up here on the edge of the Snowbelt, we average about 62" per year.

Yep, Ohio Link and SearchOhio are awesome! Ohio is blessed to have some of the best library systems in the nation. ENJOY!

Schools and services in the greater Columbus area are top-notch. We sometimes joke that the state money doesn't travel north of Mansfield :rolleyes1

Friends of ours worked for Liberty Christian. I don't know too many other Christian schools out that way.

Hope finding your new house and all of the adjustments along with that go well!
