*POLL COMING*

Just wondering what the mood of the board is on living in Florida.

I picked other because I'm already here. :teeth:

No interest whatsoever. Too many hurricanes, too hot, and I like snow in the winter.

i only lived there briefly while on the CP, but i loved it. Weather is similar to TX, but nicer. You are close to the beach, beautiful weather, close to the mouse, good shopping, beautiful homes and neighborhoods, great restaurants (off the tourist paths)....

I visit at least twice a year on business/vacation and someday hope to move there. i have a very close family that i would hate to leave though....maybe i can convince them all to move? :rotfl: :thumbsup2

I voted other because I lived there and really did not like it at all. Well I did for the first 6 months or so and then realized how unhappy I was. I would never move down there again.

well, i already live here, have been here since 1994. except for the high taxes, high homeowners insurance and car insurance rates & hurricanes i love it here! :rotfl:

really though, i love not having cold and snowy weather. i love the afternoon thunder showers, the beaches and the proximity to DISNEY:earboy2:

we were going to move to NC just because the cost of living here is so high but the housing bubble burst and we couldn't make as much money as we'd hoped for. so it wasn't worth trading all the other things we love about being here.

I would love to live there. I hate the snow!

DH's family moved there a few years ago, so we can't wait to move near them.

I'd move today if I could...before winter (I HAAAAAAAAAATE winter), but dbf doesn't want to, so it won't be happening.

I would like to live in Fla. but in northern half of Fla. I have no interest living in Southern Fla. (Miami area).

I voted not sure. We use to want to, but with the cost of living there being so expensive now, I don't want to, unless it goes way back down. That tipped the scale. I don't know how I would handle all the bugs, critters and hurricanes either. My dh was actually offered a job there starting Feb 1, 2006 and after looking at houses online and how expensive they were, we passed.

I had to vote "other" because I've lived here since 1980 and with the exception of the first year, I HATE IT HERE!!!!!!!!!!! :furious:

Up till a couple of years ago, DW and I planned on moving to Florida upon retirement but have changed our minds. We have relatives that do live in Florida and the cost of living is not really much cheaper now. Plus homeowners insurance is sky high and covers less after all these hurricanes blew through. We are still thinking south, just not that south.

You should've had a choice for those of us who already live there. ;)

We've been in Virginia (DC area) since Memorial day and I will be home in FIVE days!!!

I can't wait to see the ocean when we cross the bridge to come home. :cloud9:

And I can't wait for rush how to be only 20 cars waiting at a stop-light :teeth: .

No interest. Love MN. I love the changing of seasons, the snow at Christmas time. The lack of snakes, palmetto bugs, roaches, lizards, alligators. I love to be able to swim in lakes and not worry about bacteria and getting eaten alive :O) It's nice to visit, but after a week, I am ready to go home. Oh, and I like that we have a change in landscape up here - cliffs, bluffs, green green green grass.

When we retire, we will get a place on a lake up north here...that's about as far as I stray.

I would move there in a heartbeat, but the housing prices have gotten too far out of my price range.

No way! I LOVE the 4 seasons (the real ones, with colorful leaves, snow, etc). I couldnt stand winters without snow and was actually very depressed this winter, because we really only had rain. Very little snow. I didn't get to cross country ski, or throw snowballs, or just walk around in the absolute silence that is created by snow. We've got bugs as big as planes here this year so I can't use the bugs as an excuse, but I definitely couldn't handle the snakes down there. And even though NH ocean water is COLD there aren't many sharks here. I probably wouldn't ever set foot at a beach down there. And Christmas surrounded by palm trees? No thanks.

I would love to work and live at Disney, but I have a big problem with hot weather. I don't know if I can stand it for looong periods of time. I enjoy winter to a point, but I am really a fall/spring girl. Unfortunately I just can't have both Disney and cooler weather

I would move to FL in a heartbeat... however dh says it's too hot... darn it! So... maybe someday we'll compromise...maybe a vacation home there?:)

We want to move to Jacksonville!! We're in the very early stages of planning and stuff, but our goal is to be there within two years! :)

I used to be adament about staying somewhere that has the season changes, but after last winter, I've come to realize that I am just done with snow and ice! If I get a hankering for some wintery weather, I'll come visit my parents in the midwest! :)
