Moving to fla to work for disney HELP!!!!

kristin

I really have to give you credit for actually picking up and moving. I've wanted to go down there for so long but I guess I'm really nervous about it too. I know you pm'd travelbug about you interview process, but i'm also a bit curious about it (if you have time - obviously you are very busy with a lot of other things for the move and all). Its something I would love to do - just have to get the nerve to do it.

Good luck with everything! I hope you love it!

My understanding is there are apartment complexes that give discounts to CMs. But I have no idea what price ranges are available.

I live in Celebration, and the garage apartments are nice and pretty reasonably priced. I PM's you some info - let me know if you need more!

:)

diznygirl, are there any pictures of the garage apartments, I can't find any!

http://www.sandysellsflorida.com/homes_apartments_for_rent/rentals.htm

That's a link to one - there is only one pic from the outside. I've seen the inside of some of these apartments and they are very nice. They are built at the same time as the house specifically to be an apartment - so they are not a converted afterthought with all sorts of problems!

I just googled Celebration Garage apartments to find that one. If I see any more I'll post them.

I used apartment hunters http://www.apartmenthunters.com/
its is free and there is no fee.

Also I wanted to comment regarding aptratings.

What I have found is that the "anonymous" people are other properties that leave feedback for the competing properties, so if the review doesn't have a name or If a review doesn't list an email it might not be true.

Hi everyone. I just saw this thread so I thought I would jump in. DH and I are moving to Orlando the end of October! I am SO excited. We have put it off for 2 years and are ready. We are renting in Celebration but it is about $950 a month at Centergate. We want an apartment with a garage because we hope to get into a house asap and don't want to pack/unpack twice:)

I did a phone interview with WDW last week for a reservation sales agent position. I applied on the Disney Careers site. Any professional jobs have to apply on there and they will call you if they like your resume. The interview went great but they wanted me for a second interview September 13th and I could not be there that soon. They also start training very soon. I manage a travel agency here and I told my supervisor the end of October so she could find another manager. They would not give annual pay-just a range ($7.80-11.50) until the job offer. No set hours either you have to be willing to work 6:30am-11:30pm- weekends also- until you have been there a while. That makes it hard to make a decision! I hope to call the job line for an interview when we get down there. From the state of the reservation lines when the codes came out a few days ago they need help-90 minute waits! Oh well-I would still love to work for WDW but I do not like hours like that:)

I hope this gives you an idea of the process. The interview questions were very good-mostly about job history.

I would suggest an area like St. Cloud or Winter Haven.

I lived out near Winter Park after my CP, it was a nice area, the complex i was in was horrible, bu tnice area. I hated the long drive personally.

I second what someone said earlier, there are restricted income apartments near disney that are very nice if you qualify. Some right behind the MK.

Good luck PM me if you have any specific questions about the area, specific complexes or working for WDW...I'd love to help.

Agree with Skipper, somewhere JUST over the Polk County line may be a bit more reasonably priced. I would recommend against anything that will have you driving WEST to WDW on I4 or on 192 for any distance.

The garage apartment in Celebration would be a nice place. Decent location, close to WDW. I would imagine, however, that the price would be inflated, because it is Celebration.

We went through this about a year ago. We decided to leave cold New Hampshire and move to Florida. We had a friend who lives in the area. We decided to live near WDW and in Central Florida so that we can explore the state from a convenient location.

When we were visiting WDW the Feb. before, we toured a couple apartments in Hunter's Creek, they were nice, but we found Champions Gate to be a MUCH more quiet area. This will change, but for now, it is great!

It was easier on us, however, because I was able to stay with my current company and work from home. Holly, just finishing her graduate work got a job doing Speech and Language in Winter Haven immediately... Well, as soon as she started looking. :p

Good luck kforbs126! It is tough to move away from someplace you know and all of your friends and family. But look at it as a new beginning!

It took us some time, but we feel at home in the area. AND, we get lost a LOT less frequently! :)
