We will be moving resorts between POFQ and AKL. We don't have a car so will be relying on the service ofered by the resorts. What is the procedure? Can we have the bags transferred while we go to the parks. How much do you usually tip for this service? Might it be easier to get a taxi between resorts? Any information will be gratefully received.

Thanks
Tracy

Disney will transfer all of your luggage for you. If you do not have a car, I would travel from POFQ to your chosen park for that day, and then at the end of the day travel from the park you are at to the AKL. IMO there is no need to take a taxi.

We used the baggage transfer service last December and it worked a charm. Just talk to the front desk about it, and they will take care of your luggage.

Just for your information, we did this once, from AKL to the Poly, and that was the last time ever. Luggage does not get transfered until 3 pm. You might see it around then or better yet later than that. Had I known that up front, I would have dragged our luggage on the Disney bus with us. If you can take strollers and such on the bus, why not luggage, we only had 2 bags plus 2 small carry ons. Waiting for your luggage is not my way to spend a vacation. We like to see our room and get all our stuff squared away before going down to the pool to relax. We couldn't have gone to the park not knowing where or when our luggage was arriving, calls to bell services were of no use. If push came to shove, I'ld use the taxi!

We've taken a taxi and Disney transportation. The taxi is faster and you will have your luggage with you. If your room isn't ready then bell services will store your luggage.

Disney transportation takes longer but it is free. On our last trip we had 19 pieces of luggage moved from ASMU-GF-WL. Everything arrived around 3:00 and we were very pleased with this service. My husband was thrilled that he didn't have to touch a bag!

....be sure the call bell services the night before to inform them that you will be checking out the next day. Try to arrange to have them pick up your belongings as early as possible. Then take the Disney transportation to your next resort to check-in. Chances are your room won't be available anyway, so you can head to a park. If your room IS ready, you can leave some of your 'personals' there and head off to a park. I suggest packing a bag for 'essentials', because, as a previous poster said, your luggage will go into storage until around 3PM. You can put in a request to have your luggage delivered to your room at that time.

When we change resorts, we usually pencil it in as a non-park day, and stay at the pool. This way, we don't feel as if we must "run arund" at warp speed to get things done, or we feel like we are missing out on valuable "park time"!

Thanks for all the replies. How much would you usually tip for this service?
Thanks
Tracy

To be honest it's probably up to your discretion. The person who finally delivers your bags to your room is more than likely just picking them up from the lobby downstairs. Unfortuntily it'd probably be tough to tip the appropriate people (the ones loading it from the other resort and bussing it over).
