If anyone has moved from one DVC resort to another during the same stay could you tell me how it works? We are staying at SSR, checking out on Sunday and then checking into BCV the same day. What things do we need to know?

Hey!

Just found these great boards and what a wealth of info!!!!!

We often split our stays up when visiting the world. Your split stay is a little unusual, however. Only two days at SSR before moving? My usual advice would be at least 3 days per resort to warrant switching. First day is stressful with check in and the unpacking so it really is wasted to some degree. By the time you get settled on day 2 you'll be packing back up to leave. If you could switch to 3 days at SSR and drop one of your days at BCV I'd highly recommend that route.

Switching is no big deal, really. You can even have your luggage moved if you choose. Just contact them and let the front desk and bellman know what you are doing. Just plan on not getting into your room at the BCV. Go early to check in and secure a good room then hit the pool or parks for the day. Really plan on not getting into your second resort until 4:00 and you'll be better prepared. Call later in the day to see if your room is ready and to get the room number.

Have a great trip.

We have to do it this way because my Mom is staying with us only at SSR and since we are all on the Dining Plan we didn't want to have to pay for her on days that she isn't gonna be there.

Anyone else have good advice?

I've done this 3 times-I've found it a good way to "check out" a previously untried DVC resort is to book one night there at the beginning of my stay, then transfer to one I know and love. First time, we had a car. last year (SSR to BWV), we just called the front desk, left everything by the front door and went on our way. Fortunately everything was at BWV once we checked in and called bell services. Once, from BWV to BCV, I just took my suitcase and rolled it along the boardwalk myself. I've also changed between non-DVC and DVC resorts and there's no difference I know of.

We transferred from BCV to GF last year with no problems at all. We packed swimsuits and pool needs in a tote bag. Bell services handled transferring the luggage. We check in at GF and left our pool bag there while we went to MK for the rest of the morning/early afternoon. Came back, grabbed our pool bag and stayed by the pool until the room was ready.

They'll transfer your luggage, if you want them to, and refrigerate those items which need to be. I usually bring an insulated tote bag for the refrigerated items, for some extra protection.

I'd pack a small bag with bathing suits and whatever else you mgiht think you'll need when you get to the next resort, in case you have to wait a bit, you can sit by the pool.

If you'll have a car, then I'd prbably just put it all in my care and drive from one resort to the next.
