I am planning our once in a lifetime family trip for 2012. My gf and I bought into BLT on our latest trip in December 2008 so when we go in 2012 we will be staying on property for the first time! We want to see BLT and AKL but due to lack of points we have to stay a week at OKW. So that's a week in OKW a week in AKL then a week in BLT. Is that too much moving? We will be renting cars so getting the cases about isn't to much of a hassel. But I was thinking we could load the car in the morning check out and check back in after visiting the parks. Is this too much? It's really our only option because this will be my sisters last trip (financial). Thanks got your input and opinions guys.

WE did our first DVC stay last year and moved 3 times in one week so we could try out BWV, BLT, and VWL. Did 2 nights, 2 nights, and 3 nights. That was a bit much and wouldn't move 3 times in a week. But, I see us always doing a split stay for our vacations.

However, with what you are doing, it will be fine. It will feel like a brand new vacation each time. Having a car will make it easier as well.

As you can see from my Signature, we are split stay freaks! It is super easy at Disney with a car - we always have a car, so not sure about doing it any other way.

The luggage fairies whisk your luggage away to your next resort, and you are free to enjoy the parks!

Happy split staying, Tiger :)

Bell Services will not only transfer your luggage, but groceries as well. Perishables will be kept cold until room is ready.
Have Fun!

I did 7 moves in a 10 day trip..yours will be a cake walk
There is for sure good and fun aspects to moving and if you have a week in between each move it will be a very positive exp. Disney didnt make one mistake with all my moves and I had no car with me

Wow thanks guys, didn't know bell services would handle our baggage. That's brilliant news. Was thinking we would have put a case on the back seat but that's taken care of now. So will they know we plan to move by looking at our reservation? Or will we have to tell them? Do we just leave our cases in our room and they will magically appear in our new room? Is the second check in the same process as the first? Or is it quicker with less paperwork?

Thanks again guys.

Using Bell Services makes a split stay SOOOO easy!!! We would have everything packed up early in the AM, hand it over to Bell Services and go on with our normal plans for the day! We would head over to our "new" resort sometime later, whenever we could fit it in to our day.

Even with a car, I think it would be worth it to have the "luggage fairies" move everything. Who wants the hassle of packing and unpacking the car??? Although, if you don't mind it, then go for it!

You call the night before, or that morning and arrange for pickup. They tag your luggage with the resort destination, give you a tag, and away you go! It's that easy!!! Luggage will not appear in your new room - you must call Bell Services when you are in your room, and they will bring your luggage up. Easy peasy!

Good luck, Tiger :)

A week in each is ample time to unpack and relax, so I think you will really enjoy the two resorts. I'm not sure what size accommodation you are booking. If a 1BR or larger, keep in mind that OKW will be significantly larger rooms than BLT. If a studio, OKW will have two queen beds and BLT will have a queen bed plus a sleeper couch.

With a week at each resort it will be as if you've had three vacations. They are all so different and offer such a variety of accommodations and activities. Sounds like the perfect WDW vacation.

Not to hijack this thread or anything - but what about the kttw cards? When checking out of one resort and into another, don't you need to physically check out, go to the new resort, check in, etc? What happens if you have a DDP on just ONE reservation (for example in the 2nd res)?

That's not a hijack at all, as it's very relevant to this discussion. :)

You must always check out (not physically though if you are set up for Express Check-out), and check-in to your new resort. You are absolutely correct that you must get new KTTW cards which are coded for the new resort and DP. This is especially important for the DP - your old resort credits will expire on day of checkout by midnight, so you might have some overlap there, as your new resort credits start as soon as you check-in. So, if you are out of credits, and need some for your next stay, it's important that you check-in as soon as possible in order to get those credits available to you. None of this is automatic, as you must check-in to the new resort in order to get that next stay registered properly.

Remember that the DP is always tied to a reservation. By the way, not sure if this will change for split stays though as new changes are coming for DVC members in the fall regarding one reservation, instead of multiple reservations, as is the case now. Not sure if DVC members will even be able to do split stay DP portions as of that time period. More info to come on that according to MS.

HTH, Tiger :)

Ahh thanks for the quick reply! I thought that was the case, but I must have just read some previous posts wrong - thought that maybe disney has figured a way to make it all automatic (which would be awesome coming from a resort w/ no DDP to a resort with the DDP, you could basically just use the card immediately! Oh well...back to my original plan! Thanks! :thumbsup2

We just did 3 nights at Kidani and 3 nights at BCV. We wanted to try Kidani (one of our homes) but also have 3 nights at BCV for the kids we were bringing with us on this trip (SAB pool).

The general concensus of the guest we brought was that they loved Kidani and the extra bathroom in the 2 bedroom. And they loved the style and theme of Kidani better than BCV. But they loved the location of BCV more than the location of Kidani. Being able to walk to Epcot was a huge plus. It especially was great for us because my niece got sick yesterday and my sister and niece just stayed at BCV for the morning and then walked over to meet us at Le Cellier for lunch. My other niece walked back last night to see Illuminations when the rest of us were too stuffed from Cape May to move. We had no transportation issues with everyone being able to walk to Epcot.

We have another split stay scheduled for Dec with my inlaws so they can stay both at Kidani and VWL. I prefer one location if I can, but moving once so relatives can experience more than one resort is okay.

Use the Disney service to move your luggage for you from one resort to another. That makes it much much easier.

We move our own luggage if given the opportunity. Last time they forgot our owners locker and could not get it until the next day.
