Moving points around question

Has MS gotten a lot stricter? I had to cancel the first two nights of our October trip to BCV today. Turns out I made that reservation with banked points which would expire at the beginning of February. I figured no problem since I have two other reservations at BCV before this year end that were made at 11 months using current year BCV points. I KNOW I have made switches like this before through MS. The agent today said no, he would have to cancel and rebook, and there is no availability. I wound up changing a January reservation from a studio to a one bedroom to use up the points. Means we will have to move during that stay, but at least we got a BWV Boardwalk view!

Should I have asked to speak to a supervisor? As I said, I know I have been able to move points around before between reservations, without rebooking anything.

As far as I am aware nothing has changed and you can still reallocate points as you asked. However, what has not changed is that you sometimes (and sometimes is all too often) get someone who does not know what they are doing when you call MS . Three times in last two years I had to get the MS rep to get a manager so I could do what I knew I could do because the rep adamantly insisted I could not do what I requested.

Thank you, I was pretty sure I should have been able to do this. Oh well, except for having to move, the Boadwalk view will be fun.

I agree. Since the reservations were all made using BCV points it does not matter if they were current points or banked points - they were all Home Resort points from the same membership and a reallocation should have been a simple thing to do.

If they were points from another membership or from a different resort made at 7 months, the availability would have been an issue, but Home Resort points for reservations made at 11 months can be moved around.

Glad you at least got a nice BWV view!

Enjoy the trip. :)

I'm tempted to call tomorrow and ask for a supervisor to let them know someone needs some additional training. I know we can't get our BLT reservation back. So I am going with the "enjoy the Boardwalk view" glass half full.

To clarify - in your first post you said your reservations were at BCV. Now you say it was BLT. If the reservation was made in a home resort priority period and you now wanted to use banked points from a different resort then what you were told was correct. If it was made at 7 months or with points from the same resort then you should have been able to have the points reallocated.

The reservations in question were all at BCV. I changed our BLT reservation for January in order to use up the banked points I was told we were going to lose.
