Mom is 83 and has cancer (myeloma & non-hodgkins lymphoma) She was diagnosed with it in 2000, right after both DS's and I got back from our first trip to WDW. (Oldest DS has since married and made me a grandma! :goodvibes)

At that time Mom was given 3 years, but, thankfully, she is still with us. I have been fortunate enough to take her with youngest DS and myself to WDW. Our summer 2002 trip was our dream trip. We stayed at the Poly. I took her again the week after Christmas 2004, and we stayed at the Swan :goodvibes .

My sister and I have noticed she is slowing down considerably and gets confused so we have decided it is time for her to not be alone.

I took a week's vacation so I could make room for her at my house. My bedroom and bath are on the 1st floor. She will take over my room and I will move upstairs. I have tried to make her room as cheerful as I can. Here is where she will stay.

Remember Susie in your thoughts and prayers! :) She wants to go to her family reunion in Alabama in October. If she is healthy I will take her.

I'm sure she'll love that room. You're a good daughter. I hope your mom finds a lot of love and comfort (I'm sure she will) in her new home.

Lovely room! My dad moved in with us after my mom passed away. He's 72 and pretty healthy, but not someone that would do well alone.

The room is beautiful. You are a kind daughter and you will be rewarded in your old age by kind treatment from your DSs.

what a wonderful room for your mom. I'm sure she'll be much better off staying w/you and your ds! I hope she likes the idea :)

just noticed...Barberton...I live in Mansfield and have worked in Barberton...for the phone co. :wave2:

You did a superb job! Looks as though she'll have everything she needs...especially the love of a wonderful daughter. :teeth:

TC (big hugs),

Your post really touched my heart :lovestruc . What a cozy room you've created for your DM. It's takes a wonderful loving daughter to rearrage her home to accommodate her Mom. I'm sure your Mom, Susie, will love her new place, time spent with you, and hopefully be able to attend the reunion. God willing, may she continue to beat the odds and she enjoy many more yrs.

We lost dear Dad about 3 yrs ago to cancer and we've offered my Mom to live with us. She is a very spry 76yo, and is greatful for the offer but reminds us she wants to stay in her home place until she physically cannot. I certainly respect that. Meanwhile she has the comfort of knowing we will always be here for her and she has a place when needed. That's what families are for. :goodvibes

How very considerate of you and to the fact that your mom is a person you would want to come live with you! I love the fireplace in your room. I can imagine curling up by the fire reading a good book on a chilly night!

Great job TC. Your mom is fortunate to have such a caring daughter. I'm sure that you and Alex will take good care of Susie. You are all welcome to drop by anytime that you feel like a change of scenery. We'd love to have you all over sometime.

Continued prayers for your mom's health and for good things for all of your family.

I don't regret at all having my DM (now 89) move in with DH & I. (funny - it was my hubby's idea!) We even moved to a larger house with a bedroom & bathroom downstairs to accomodate her. She is wonderful company and really can't live alone. One of my two sisters stay with her when DH & I go on vacation. So far (5 years!) she keeps up her room and laundry + she loads & unloads the dishwasher! Hey, she wants to help - I'm not going to take that away from her!

TC - you've made a lovely room for her. I hope you have many happy days making happy memories!

Wow!!!! You brought tears to my eyes! :grouphug: It looks beautifull and prayers for you and your Mom :grouphug:

You did such a great job! I LOVE the fireplace.

You are such a good daughter. It's wonderful that you, your mom and DD (and grandbaby!) all have each other. :goodvibes

Thanks for all your kind words. My Mom took her Mom into her home and took care of her so I guess I'm just following her example! :)

The corner where the rocking chair is, is where I'll place my Disney Christmas tree. I got a Mickey/Minnie victorian skirt for it during our June trip to WDW. I also got mini Mickey balls to hang from garland on the fireplace. And the heart wreath that is above the fireplace now will be replaced with a huge Mickey wreath at Christmastime.

Bless you for taking your Mom in! Her new room looks very warm and inviting, I'm sure she'll be very happy! I'll keep Susie in my thoughts and prayers! :)

Wow Cindy that room is really beautiful and your mom is really blessed to have such a wonderful daughter in you. I remember when my mom died and I had to move my 90 yo grandma in with us. Not to mention moving her to another state, having to move 2 of my boys into one room and then my poor grandma asking why she was getting the smallest bedroom in the house. I know she will be blessed with your family around.Blessings to you. :sunny:
