I know I've read on this forum that Disney will move your bags for you from one Disney resort to another for split stays. But when I booked our 4 different resorts for our July trip, I asked the CM to confirm this, and she said it's not guaranteed; some resorts will and some won't. :(

I don't know what I'll do if they won't, because we're flying down this trip and I'm not planning on having a rental vehicle. Dh isn't going so I'll have my hands full just moving my 5 children from one resort to the next.

Here's the order of the resorts I've booked:

POR 6 nites, then YC 3 nites, then CR 6 nites, then AKL 3 nites. Do you think I should call all of these resorts directly to see if they'll move our bags?

TIA,

Sue

takes place about 3 to 4 pm. Since we were moving from the Poly to YC, we wanted our suitcases so we could swim right away on our day off at the YC. We, 3 adults, decided to take a taxi and it cost about $15. You will have your hands full. It was noted on our reservation that we wanted luggage transfer but got the impression that it was just a request not guarnteed, they would if they could. You will have your hands full. I certainly would call but you could also get 4 different responses. Have a back up plan......enjoy your stays.......

Wow!!! It has been my understanding that the Disney resorts will transfer your luggage for you. In fact, it has even been stated that the value resorts are a little slow but they do get the stuff transferred. I haven't heard of anyone having a problem getting their bags to the next resort. I would pack a small bag with the stuff you have to have and take it with you. You can always rent a locker in the parks. Or just leave it with the baggage folks at the new resort when you check in.

I have never had a problem getting luggage transferred.

I will say, that's quite an ambitious moving schedule you have there!

DD and I split our Easter stay between the Poly and AKL. It was only one move, but we chose to take a cab. The cost was only $13.50, + tip. A small price for peace of mind and convenience. However, every post I have read about transferring luggage has made it clear you only have to let bell services know, and it will be taken care of. They usually suggest you call the night before your move, to let them know.

I could not get luggage transfered from POR to AKL on my Feb 2002 trip. No one would give me a straight answer and finally gave me a numer to call, called and left message as no one answered, never received a call back. Ended up hauling the luggage from POR to Universal for the day then to AKL.

We had our luggage transferred between the BC and Swan in March of this year. No problems, BC staff picked it up in the a.m. before we left for the park. They indicated that luggage is transferred between noon and 3 p.m. When we got to the Swan later that afternoon, the luggage was already in our room!

Disney *WILL* transfer your luggage from one Disney resort to another Disney resort (including Swan/Dolphin). I've done it myself, and I've had virtually every other resort (including Swan/Dolphin) deliver luggage to Pop.

Luggage Transfers typically happen between 1-3pm.

I recommend calling down to Luggage Assistance or Bell Services the night before to schedule an appointment. With Luggage Assistance (Value resorts) you do not need to be in the room for the pickup. For Bell Services (Moderate & Deluxe) you do need to be in your room, as they are a tipped position.

As for Value resorts being a bit slow... it's not that they are slow, but sometimes they have 10 different properties that they have to transfer to. Remember, Values are great places for guests to stay for thier first night, and then upgrade to another resort.

As someone who has done luggage transfers, it's a time consuming process. We start packing the van at 12:00-12:30, and leave by 1:00. We might not finish dropping off until 2:30-3:00 or so, on a busy day.

Thanks for your confirmation, Tyler, and also thanks to everyone else who replied!

So I would assume that each bag would need to have ID of some sort on the outside; we do *not* have fancy matching luggage--rather an assortment of suitcases, duffle bags, etc.

Any suggestions as to what to use for ID tags?

The resort will tag it for you, however, I would also have those paper airline ID tags, at the very least. I wonder if dollar stores sell inexpensive ID tags if you are not flying.

We transferred from the Swan to CBR last September and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. We had the bellman retrieve our luggage (except for a backpack with our change of clothes) in the morning while we pool hopped to the Stormalong Bay (JUST KIDDING - we swam at the Swan!!!!), went back to our room to change, checked out around 1:00 pm (we requested and received a late check out), and then road the boat taxi to MGM where we then hopped a bus to CBR. Luggage was there when we arrived at CBR and check in was very smooth.

Now, that being said, we are going back in May and we have decided to stay at the CR the entire time. (Boy, we can't wait to try the Volcano pool at the Poly! Kidding, guys, kidding). We wanted to try a monorail resort this time and, since we are only staying 7 nights, did not want to deal with a resort transfer. BUT, again, it was very easy and would do it again if we ever decide to stay for a longer period of time.

Can we start another pool hopping thread?

  :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The resort will tag the bags with flourescent transfer tags... however, it's always advised to have your own personal ID tag on EVERY bag that you have. Use the name on the reservation, and include hometown on it... A lot of people like to use the big flourescent shaped tags that you can find at Wal*Mart for 97 cents.

Whew! Thanks, Tyler! I was wondering if things had changed since I last had luggage trasferred. I've had luggage transferred 3X, a total of 6 different resorts, and about to do it a fourth time. It was always so easy. I just took my luggage to bell services and told them where to send it,(didn't want to call and wait in my room), got on a bus and went to a park for the day, then at the end of the day took the bus to the new resort, checked in, got to my new room, called bell services there, and voila! In a matter of minutes, I got my luggage.
