We are considering splitting our Dec vacation between two resorts. Currently I have ressies at the ASMo and also at the POR. We've always stayed at ASMo and have been content there, but are thinking about adjusting the trip and using half of each ressie to keep the costs down, and try a moderate for a change.

We would be staying at ASMo for 5 nights and then moving to the POR for three nights. If they allow me to adjust the ressies that way, what do we do? I mean when we check out of the ASMo, will they cart our bags over to the new resort or are we responsible for them?

Thanks! I've seen several signatures on here that look like some of you split some of your trips.

Will you have a car? Either way Disney will move everything for you. Just call the front desk to arrange the move. DH & I always have our vehicle so we just move ourselves. We do tend to compact our traveling gear for the second resort. We pack dirty clothes in one bag and leave in the car. Another bag we pack with clean, fresh clothes for the remainder of the trip. We love splitting our stays. It seems like two vacations! This Dec. we are splitting between WL & AKL!:bounce: You will love POR! We were there two years ago. We thought it was beautiful and so romantic!

We have done this twice without a problem. We stayed at All Star Movies and transferred to BCV. We had our luggage ready to be picked up at 10:30 and it was delivered to BCV by 4:00.

We're doing the same thing for the first time, moving from ASMO to the Poly.
Another question I just thought of....how long does it take for the luggage transfer? It's not much of an issue for us as once we leave our room for the day, we're at the Parks til the wee hours....Just wondering.
Thanks much!!

Just came on the boards and saw my question. Can't beat that.
We are staying 5 days BWV and 2 at WL. We are using a car service to get to and from the airport. My only concern regarding Disney moving baggage is.... my medication. I have a stack of heart pills, etc (to many to take to the park that day.....I just carry my daily meds on me). Also, I take a nap everyday and will try to access our room asap. Have anyone ever lost there luggage? Or misplaced it for a long while?

I am seriously thinking about calling a cab to personally move the luggage. What do you think?

Thanks to all who answered. I've got to turn it over some in my brain. I'm thinking of taking advantage of them moving the luggage, but I am also wondering if we need to head on over to POR that AM to go ahead and check in? Or should we wait until the end of our day? Our room trade day we will probably go to the parks for awhile and then head offsite for another holiday event. What have you all done? Thanks!!

Northwds- as far as the meds, I would probably either move them myself, or can you pack them in a smaller bag and take them to the parks and put them in a locker near the front? Last trip was the first time we used the lockers, but they were very convenient.

In December we stayed our first night at AKL and transferred to BCV the next morning. It was no problem. We showed up at BCV on Sunday afternoon and called and our luggage was already at the bell stand. It was pretty cool because we did not have to worry about moving our luggage from resort to resort.

:earsboy:

We will be staying at the Dolphin for 12/31 and checking into the Contemporary on 1/1. The Dolphin said they can transfer our luggage, but I am worried since they "techinically" aren't a Disney hotel. Has anyone had experiences with this bad or good?

We just split our stay last week between BC and Poly. On the morning of our switch, we packed up the car (we had a rental) and headed over to the Poly to check in at about 8:00 am. They took all our luggage (including grocery bags full of food!!) and promptly delivered it to our room when we got into our room around 3:00 pm. No problems. I'm glad we checked in early as we got a great room and hopefully that made a difference.

Thank you for all your posts. I decided to go ahead and make the switch. We're staying at ASMu for 5 nights, then we will move to POR for the last 3. We've never "upgraded" to a moderate before, so this will be a taste of that magic for us.

I think from the posts that we will probably just load up the van and carry the luggage over and drop it with the bell desk, check in, and then head off to the parks. We'll see.

Anyway, thank you all for helping me make my decision!!

If you will have your own transportaion I'd recommend moving yourself. We have split our last four trips and we always have a rental car. We usually pack the night before the move (separating clean from dirty so we can leave the dirty stuff in the trunk). In the morning we check out, pack up the car, and head over to the new resort. Once there we check in. Sometimes the room is ready. If the room is ready it is nice to have your bags brought up, get into your room, and get settled in. Then you know you can head back anytime you like. Sometimes the room isn't ready. If that is the case then bell services will hold your bags. The nice thing is that you have full access to them should you need something. They will also give you a number to call to find out if your room is ready so you will know when you can head back to your resort. All in all we find it very easy.

Having Disney transfer your bags is convenient. However, you don't know when your bags will arrive at the new resort and the bags might not be accessible until they do. Also, if you don't head to your new resort until that afternoon you'll have to deal with checkin at that time. I've found that mornings tend to be a little less crowded for checkin.

You'll enjoy splitting your stay, and POR is a great resort. Not sure which side you are on, but we love the atmosphere of Riverside.
